HI all,
Hope you're gearing up to a happy holiday season :)

Just an update for my application: I got my work permit yesterday...YAY! And today I went to service Canada and got my social insurance number!!!!

Police check has been recieved by cic and on Monday I go for my medical - the final piece of the puzzel!

Hope your applications get processed quickly.......cheers all

C

Why did it take so long (2 months) for you to get the OWP???

Wow. CIC really is sitting on their hands recently, haven't they? Still no movement in the wait times. Ridiculous to be at the same date for 3 weeks now.

They are maintaining the 11 month timeline...........So Feb. 2013 applicants will be notified in Jan. 2014.

My husband is sponsoring me. I did the application myself and plan to put it in the mail tomorrow. I have checked and double checked, just nervous that I missed something. I have included police certificate, upfront medical exam confirmation, lease, insurance (car/home) banking in both Canada and US, travel itineraries, statutory declarations. I went and got a visitor's visa and included a copy of that and our made a photobook with our pictures. I also included the Right of Permanent Residence Fee since it says this could expedite things.

Several years ago, I sponsored my husband for residency in the States. A lawyer did it for us and the process cost about 7k. I really wanted to avoid that this time around, but I don't want it to bite me in the butt later. I just want to get this over with. I wish I would have done it a year or two ago, we have been splitting our time between US and Canada since 2011, but hadn't decided if we would stay. I did freelance work in the States, now it is going to be tough to sit on my thumbs for 6 to 8 months until I can work. But I guess it beats being apart. Did any of you do your own applications?

Hi family? How is it going any news so far from CIC?. Well I have a small but good news the FBI finally processed my hubbies fingerprint report and have sent it to us as we were told by them so we shud be receiving it by the end of December. I'm hoping and praying that the coming of our new born will be good luck to us and my hubby will get his PR soon. We're hoping to get an answer by March the earliest. Please wish me luck with my baby coming January.

I did our application (I am sponsoring my husband). As long as you follow the instructions and include everything required, you will be fine. The price lawyers want is crazy...People are more than capable of doing it themselves. We included the medical and all of the fees as well in hopes for speedy processing. Good luck with this ever so long journey ! Welcome to the Fam!!!
