Thank you so much Bebecharmed, the situation is that his employer will not extend his work permit after 3 months and he is not intending leaving after three months but he is looking for a way to stay here in a legal way but currently doesn't know what to do to achieve that.
Go to school first and then ask for working visa :)

One legal way is to look for employer who is willing to give an approved LMO so he can apply for a work permit and he should apply for another visa as you can not extend a w1 visa.

Well 3 ways.. Be a student, apply as a visitor or find a new employer who will be willing to process a foreign worker. Whatever path your friend takes, he has to prove a lot of things to CIC based from which category he chooses. The best of luck! :)

Thanks mrsc08
Just wondering if he can change the condition of his stay to that of a student with 3months work permit, or if he can apply as a visitor.
I know for sure that someone here on visitor's visa can not be a student but I don't know for a worker on w1 visa.
I really appreciate your help.

Can he apply for another visa while here?

I am not that familiar with w1 visa and the its conditions. Your friend should know about it. Or if you wanna help him/her you can research about it at www.cic.gc.ca as I can't get the answers right now kinda dizzy, anxious and depressed from waiting... ;)

Nice! That means we will be getting our goodnews at almost the same time. Did u apply for OWP? I am so tired of waiting. I came to Canada as an jnternational student. I got married in my 3rd year and now fast forward to now I have 2 kids. I couldnt continue scnool cos of baby. Now my study permit expired this year but I applied for OWP and spousal sponsorship a month before my study permit expire which I guess gives me implied status. I have 1 year old and 2months old daughters. No work, no scnool. I am just patiently waitin.
Yup I definitely feel you. My visa expired the day we sent the appliction to Vegreville. That was May 1st. Because of easter they received my application on May 6th and started processing it May 15th.
I was so excited when the January applicants received their news quite quick and then it slowed down again because of the situation in the Philipines and that honestly disappointed me a lot :( Oh well guess we cant do anything but wait... When did you send your application? And yes,I sent an application for an OWP with the sponsorship application.
Dont have kids but since 3 weeks I now have a puppy of the breed I always wanted :p So she is keeping me very busy but I still cant wait to work again and make some money. Especially now around Christmas it would be nice to have more money to spend on gifts.

Thank you MisterBob for doing this, it's always great to see the progression and look for patterns. We appreciate it, keep it up! +1 for you!

If it's anything like the two week same date episode as we see here, there will be a big jump next week. Stay positive guys, the holidays are just around the corner. 2014 will be an amazing year for most of us! :)
Thank you Mrs_Canuck! Thank you for recognizing people's contribution. We all know there's no an accurate reading but just bits here and there will give us some direction to look forward to (staying optimistic!). Hope we do get some great weeks ahead before Christmas.

One thing we could all wish for this Christmas is to be with our loved ones approved, at least give us the work permit and let us know its approved. That would be the best Christmas for us all.

1 more update left before Christmas and a total of 2 before year ends! Lets finish February and start March for the coming new year! ;D

I doubt we will get good news before Christmas, it seems very slow. Hopefully right after New Years, that would be an awesome start to the year. :)

Why is the Processing times such a long wait still for In-Land applications..

I am about to submit my In-Land Application with a OWP but I find out that they are 1 YEAR behind looking at the applications.

So If I send it off now its going to take 1 year before its even picked up and looked at...Then I have to wait 11 months after that for the first stage of processing then another 8 Months of Stage 2...

This is completely ridiculous.

How the hell are you all managing without working.... I just don't understand it.

So it looks likes I will have to wait 2 years before I even see my Work permit?? WTF

If you don't like the long wait time for inland, you can always apply outland and land PR much much quicker than inland. The choice is yours. Considering that you are British, if I'm not mistaken, London VO is one of the fastest route to land in Canada.
