The new update July 22

Ah well, at least there was some movement, even if small. :) Just by all the good news this past week, it makes me more optimistic. Our day will come! It may be a little slow right now, but better slow than at a stand still. :)

Hello guys,

I've been away for a few months after first stage approval. I was trying to get my expired passport renewed. So frustrated at the whole thing.

Cbsa has my passport (from a failed refugee claim) and told me that they won't release it until CIC request it directly.

Cic says I have to deal with Cbsa to get my passport for renewal.

My government consulate just told me that they won't give me another passport because of my previous refugee claim. And that I will have to go through an interview process and then it depends on them if they want to give me one. I had a genuine problem and didn't claim anything against the state.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place.

CIC deadline is July 23 for me to send them copy of renewed passport for 2nd stage processing

:/

Just though I'd come back and discuss with you guys.

Way to stay positive! It's a good thing to remember, you are right! :)

A little movement is better than no movement! I'm sure once they get into the swing of things it will start moving more quickly. Otherwise soon processing will be at 12 months! ???

Hmm that's tough. Have you talked to an immigration lawyer at all. Would having the old passport make it easier for your consulate to give you a new one? Can't you show CBSA the document CIC gave you requesting a renewed passport?

You can't apply for a visitor visa b/c technically you are out of status and it's too late to get restoration of status. Note you can still get PR even if you don't have status. I think you should be okay but maybe it's worth checking with a lawyer to give you peace of mind.

I've been with my common law partner for 5 years and everything so i hope that's enough to overlook this whole status fiasco. How does one go about talking to a lawyer for little to no cost? As a person who can't work, I can't afford a lawyer.

I showed Cic request to Cbsa. They said they don't release passports to people. They only send it to Cic when they need it. But it's expired!

My consulate has an issue with my previous refugee claim because I mentioned it to them. I have to fly to another city to talk to the consulate too. I'm just wondering if I should send all this info to CIC before anything else. See if they can process stage 2 without the renewed passport. In the meantime I'll deal with consulate for a passport. I can really do much until I get DM.

I have a little kid and my wife here :/ can't even think about my case being dropped by cic if I don't get back to them in time.

Can any one comment on my status
I am putting the inland application for the spouse. Please advice me about the supporting documents i need for application.
Firstly, what are the supporting documents people will add to show genuine relationship.
Currently i have joint bank account, lease agreement, letter from doctor for pregnancy, how much financial bank statement i
required, as i am currently student.I have snap for weeding and some trip picture to Toronto, Please let me know any thing that support my application to show its genuineness.
Any suggestion highly appreciated

I am a Sept applicant and we didn't send MED with application. Should I do the MED now and send it for faster process?
Where should I send it now?

thanks for the help

Hi

I did my meds 5 months after i submited my application. I made sure it is connected to my application by using call center and email. after like 4 attempts they emailed me back saying they got my meds. it is only updated on ecas after stage 1 approval though.

Maybe try a lawyer they might be able to help getting stage 2 processed without a passport. You said CIC gave you a deadline of July 23 so you don't have time to waste.

WTF

only 3 days of progress in the last week!!!!

the week before last week there was only 3 days of progress ... 4 days the week before that and 3 the week before that.

We're averaging JUST over 3 days of files processed per week......

At this rate, they'll get to my file in just under 5 months!!! 1st stage should say 24 month wait time... not 11 months... this is unacceptable :(

Exactly! When I sent my application, I expected AIP around June. With the current processing time it goes all the way to November and if they keep the same pace up, it will get to May 2015!! This is totally unacceptable

stay strong everyone, they cant work at this pace forever! im sure it will start moving normal pace soon.. ::)

i have a question, is the rprf included in the $1040 i paid initially? we have no kids. its just me my husband is sponsoring.
and do i still need to send them the receipt??

Yes. If you paid it already, the original receipt should be enough.

Hi Guys,

I know CIC website still shows a slow processing time but please stay strong and hang in there.

For me I have waited exactly 11 months for them to give me AIP, DM and Landing, so I totally understand how you all feel. Being left alone and don't know what is going on inside CIC.

I am sure they are working but just slow speed (sorry to say it is typical in all level Canada Gov't Dpts from City to Federal as I also dealing with the City Govt for my in laws family).

I received a phone call from local CIC office yesterday morning and asked me to do the landing interview this morning. And after a long wait I finally landed this morning.

I didn't receive any letter from CIC for the appointment coz they said my visitor visa is expiring soon therefore they set up an urgent landing.

While me and my wife were waiting this morning, an officer came out from the office inside into the waiting area and said due to a computer failure, they are not able to provide SIN number to all landed applicants. In this case, we have to wait till we receive the actual PR Card and get it from Service Canada.

After we receive all papers, I went straight forward to provincial office to get health card they took my application however the health coverage is not going to take effect until 3 months from the date of landing. So please keep that in mind guys.

And that is pretty much all for the day.

Finally finished dealing with CIC for the next 3 years... hope you all receive good news soon.
