I sighned :) from the name of my husband ;)

Ponga,
I have no OWP, no plans to work next years (3 kids). My visa expires at the end of June, we are going to apply for prolongation next week,
for me is also very important possibility to drive, which expires also at the end of June.

Sorry, but what do you mean by prolongation?

Even though you have no plans to work, an OWP (submitted with your PR application) would have given you implied status throughout your PR `wait', plus it doesn't need to be approved, like a visitor extension does.

Depending on where you are landing it may take longer to get an appointment at the landing office. Halifax has a relatively low wait time and it took 2 weeks for my husband and I to get a landing letter. Keep checking your mailboxes as it will only come via snail mail. :)
My landing office is etobicoke no idea how long they take.....got dam since April 15th

Ponga, sorry I don t understand.
I should apply right now for OWP? What for?
If you currently have legal status, you should maintain that status, since without it you could be removed.

An OWP is merely one way to have done that, that wouldn't require having it approved...unlike a visitor extension request.

Ponga, thank you.
But my English is too bad to understand what do you mean :(
You mean that instead of request on extension (prolongation) of my visitor's visa (as I understand it's very easy procedure) I should apply for OWP. What benefits will it bring? Possibilities to drive or what? And I suppose I need much more documents for new visa?

Do you mean March 2014? If so, chack out the link to the 2014 spreadsheet in my signature and it will give you when others who applied in Mach get their AOR (acknowledgement of receipt). Right now, not many people have received theirs, so your application is not unusual. We are assuming this is due to the transfer to the Mississauga office.

I am almost in the same situation in BC. ICBC told me I have to wait until my AIP (work permit) to start the process since I am on implied status right now, and have no legal document to show.

I am from a country that have to do the road test again (unfortunately), and you're only allowed to drive for 90 days after entering Canada. One more crazy thing from the gov. - you can drive for 90 days, after this, you have to do the written and road test again or you're not allowed to drive anymore. Makes no sense to me.
I believe you can drive with your country license without a restriction. the 180 days applies for PR only. those are obliged to apply to change their license in 6months since the date they became PR .
Dont ask about changing yours now if you dont have valid visa for one year. just check with the authorizes that you drive with your license combined by translation .or simply apply for international driving license which is valid as long as your are not PR.
