Hello fellow members,

I have some questions regarding sponsoring my wife. She is already in Canada on PGWP and we got married in Oct in India. I have to apply for her PR soon but confused with the name change thing on the passport. Can some please answer my below queries:

1. If she wants to get her name changed on her passport (she wants to get my last name added to her's) should she do it now ? wouldn't it complicate her PR application due to recent name change.?

2. And if she doesn't ever gets her name change on passport does it really matters with PR application ?

3. As to get the name change on passport BLS India processing time is 2 months, and should she get the name change first and then apply for PCC or get PCC first and then apply for name change and then apply for PR ?

4. Is it wise to apply Outland or Inland.?

I need your advice members, please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

WellWisher.

Sigh!!!! No movements still.... Hope someone gets good news tomorrow. This is ridiculous. The gov't is prioritizing the typhoon victims first... It's really good thing to do but they should add people to do that and still do the regular processing since we already were affected by the strike. Just so frustrating. Can't believe what we had to endure.

sigh............ We are waiting on my husbands FBI Cert from the states too... in 1 week they moved only 1 day worth of files. I don't know how long more they'll take before they can send us the Fbi cert so we can submit that to the CIC... hoping it'll be soon........

Do you guys know if, after DM, our app was sent to our local office, does that basically mean the decision is positive? Or is there still a chance we will have to go for an interview?

I think they would have called you for an interview a long time ago if they weren't sure. Since you applied in January I'm thinking they would have called you for an interview around the 6 month mark.

Hi jsker, like Line.a said if they were not sure about your relationship they would had called you before give you AIP and DM.

When you get DM is positive :) so you don't need to worry anymore.

The "other" interview is when you are at the landing office, they will ask you the three fundamental questions and then you will become a PR.

The three questions are: Are you still married to your sponsor?, Have you committed any crime or have a criminal record?, Do you have dependents?

That's pretty much it :)

If we apply OWP together with the inland application for my wife who has valid work permit until September 2015, what will be her status here in Canada if her work permit expires and we haven't receive any news from the CIC? Thank you

She will be on implied status when it expires, that means she can still work with same conditions in her current work permit until she receives her new Open Work Permit. That's the best thing to do, apply OWP with the application. ;)

She will be on implied status and can continue working as per her current work permit, UNLESS this current permit is an IEC or a PGWP which can not be renewed and will not be covered by implied status.

Thanks! I wouldn't bother calling for anything but important stuff i know what a pain it is to contact them, but in my case i didn't get any answer yet after over a month now after sending out my application, i am therefore freaking out if it was lost or they want to send it back to me if there's something missing or whatever. as far as i know from this forum it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get an answer :( i have to agree this forum is way more useful than any officer out there haha
Hi vaida;) I am in the same boat. We also sent our application a little more than a month ago, and still did not get any reply. Let's be positive. Everything will turn out awesome!

Hi Well Wisher.....

M from India too.....and I did not change my last name.....cz of 3 reasons......first.....I checked with CIC they said it's not necessary and secondly cz my visitor visa has the same name . Thirdly, cz of the time BlS takes to process such things. They took a month and a half to send my PCC. Thankfully all was ok.

And applying Outland definitely has shorter processing time, but it's ur decision completely.

Take care and all the best.......

Friends,

This never ending wait is taking its toll on me and my wife. After reading the following article (http://www.ronaambrose.com/media_/in-the-news2/canada-announces-further-measures-in-response-to-typhoon-haiyan), my wife wrote an email to Chris Alexander (MP). I don’t know if this will make a difference or not, but here is his email address (chris.alexander@parl.gc.ca).

Our email to the minister…….

Dear Mr. Alexander,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to you to discuss the hardships my husband and I and several others like us have endured in the past year. My husband and I got married in XXXXX and decided that we wanted to start our family here in Canada. We moved to XXXXX, Alberta in February of this year. Being a Canadian citizen, I thought it would be best to go through the inland spousal sponsorship process. We were advised by our immigration consultant that the wait time for the first stage of approval at that point was noted as 6 months on the CIC website. The wait time for first stage approval has been revised to 11 months more recently.

It has been more than 9 months since we applied and there has been no progress on our file whatsoever. My husband does not have a work permit, was not granted a study permit in time for September enrollment in an XXXX program and is slow slipping into depression. We cannot travel to visit our family overseas and feel truly trapped in the political system. We have brought our family planning to a halt and are living a life of uncertainty. We understand that the delay was caused by the CIC strike initially and more recently due to the prioritizing of applicants affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

I believe I speak on behalf of the hundreds of applicants who have been stuck in limbo for the majority of this year when I say, we respect your decision to prioritize those affected by the typhoon, but at the same time please do not stop processing the applications of inland spousal sponsors. You should be adding more capacity to server those affected by the typhoon, not redirecting your current workforce to address those affected by the typhoon. Please understand the frustrations we have endured and continue to endure. The strike was an agonizing experience for all of us and just as things were starting to look optimistic, the typhoon hit us, figuratively speaking. It truly feels like the government does not care for our well being whatsoever. Please stop sidelining inland spousal sponsorship applicants. My husband is an XXXXX by profession and wants to become a productive member of the Canadian economy. Please provide him with the tools to do so.

Please also share a timeframe of how long you expect to keep your resources devoted to the typhoon victims, so we can mentally prepare for the dreadful wait ahead.

I hope you realize how desperate I am to be writing an email that I know will probably go unanswered.

Respectfully,

Respectfully,
Thank you kindly! You have spoken quite eloquently and have represented yourself and many of us here accurately yet with great decorum. Even if it doesn't do us any good, I believe is always an excellent practice to speak up and out when things turn unfair and you have done that exceedingly well. Thank you for taking the time to do so and sharing that with us here.
