I'm sorry to hear that. I am in the same position my grandmother who is my life is getting bad and in the last few days she has had a few strokes :'( and my aunt which I love so much she has been amazing to me my whole life now has cancer too but worst than that she is in a really bad depression, she is only 65. Doctor says if she continues like that he doesn't give her more than 2 months.

I do not know what to do either, hubby says "if you feel like you need to go just go, we will figure out what to do or where to go", but we are so far in this process I cannot do that. but in the same respect I don't know if I will be able to forgive myself not seeing them one last time
Thanks dear! I really appreciate you all being so kind and understanding! It means a lot! :)

I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother and aunt, it is so unfair that the people who has the biggest hearts has to go through such suffer! My prayers are with you and your family! It's good your hubby understands your concerns! What would we do without them! You and I are in the same situation here, but I am so afraid to leave it's not even something I could try imagine. I'd panic upon entry to Canada, happened before because I knew I was in trouble visiting too often, so once being warned I'm not wanting to risk it again, it's super uncomfortable to get questioned even if there's nothing to hide you know! I hope the best for you, I really do!

Thank you hockeyfan for the info! The spreadsheets are very helpful indeed (not very promising though, seeing that most German applicants had to wait another 4 months until they received their DM). I am also afraid that it will take much longer for the 2013 applicants, as it seems that there was a little bit of a bottleneck situation this year (extension of first stage from 8 to 11 months). I am hopeful that this is not the case, because I am currently studying on a student visa (which is insanely expensive).

Have you considered applying for an IEC visa?

Hello Line.a,

would this enable me to go to university? Because according to the website I can only work in Canada with an IEC permit.

No the IEC visa is an open work permit that most European countries participate in. The quota should open for Germany soon if not already and there's a certain limit for how many can travel. You're from Germany right? This enables you to work, you can apply for anything even if you have applied for PR. But you can work only, and take short courses there are a couple months only. Just to give you an idea.

This wouldn't really help me, because I am currently enrolled at the University of Calgary (and have been since 2011). I would prefer to continue my studies. Thank you for the insight, though :).

International student fees are pretty high, but I would apply for OWP so you can work while you are at school. Other than that you gotta wait until they give you a DM on your application.

Oh, I am employed on campus. I am working two jobs while taking classes (and have more than enough to do with those, so I would prefer not to add a third job). I would just really like to cut that tuition down by two thirds... And I know I will have to wait for my DM, I was just wondering if I could look forward to a quick decision. I guess it really depends on the amount of applications they received and if my medical report from October will be accepted and such.

I would also just like to know if I can stay in Canada, as it would generally make me less anxious.

Of course, you can stay in Canada. You have valid status already, so there's no way they can make you leave unless you commit a crime or something like that.

If you included an OWP along with your inland application you're fine! If you didn't, you'd need to extend your stay but since you're on a study permit you're golden. Once the study permit runs out you'd need to apply to extend your stay a month before it runs out - that's if you didn't include an OWP though.

Well, right now I can. But if for whatever reason my application gets declined I would have to leave. And my spouse and I aren't going to make any long-term decisions until that is settled. So I feel a little bit insecure along the way. I do know that the odds of my being declined are fairly low, but as long as it isn't guaranteed I will continue to worry :).

Not to get ahead of myself here, but I shared the good news of the AIPs in the 2013 applications with hubby and he was wondering about OWPs.

So the question is that if he already had a work permit (which has now expired) prior to us applying for spousal sponsorship and is working on an implied status while waiting for the process to be complete, would he have to send away to get the documentation for an OWP once we get AIP or would CIC send him the work permit? He said that in the past when he was on the work permits, the government would send him everything after applying.... Is there an additional process to get the OWP after we get AIP or is he just going to get it in the mail? All fees have been paid for the OWP and were sent with the application....

If you sent and paid for OWP with your application it will be sent to you in the mail after AIP

Congrats to the 2013 applicants that are getting their AIP's.

Finally our time (2013 applicants) is here.

Lets hope they just keep moving right along up until Xmas cause I'm sure CIC will be taking a little break round that time.
