Yeah, I'm kind of confused by this as well. Danib said he/she sent the application on Jan. 4th, but AOR on Feb. 9th. @ Danib, are you sure it wasn't AOR on Jan. 4th and they started working on your application on Feb. 9th? If that is the case, then I assume that we can go by the AOR (Jan. 4th for Danib).

Hey guys

Sorry, maybe I am wrong with these abbreviations - too much excited with the news :)
Let's start again:

CIC received sponsorship application - January, 04 2013
CIC started processing the application - February, 09 2013
CIC send the letter saying my husband is eligible to be my sponsour - November, 13 2013

First of all.. Thank you very much for your kind words and suggestions in this tough period. I am still anxiously waiting for another call to hear how bad it is, but you are absolutely right, Skype is very handy! It definitely does make a difference! Honestly, deep inside I feel it's best to stay until we know for sure what's going on and what not, so I'd like to say thank you once again, it's warming to know how you all care! :)

Second. OH MY GOD did I just see someone getting AIP from 2013!? That's AWESOME!! We keep checking every day more than 5 times haha! Congrats :)

Hey Line.a - I feel your pain, I really do.

A few weeks back my mom suffered a brain aneurysm with minor stroke... it was the worst experience I've ever gone through in my life. I was so torn about whether or not I should leave Canada to go attend her at the hospital, or stay in Canada.

Fortunately, my sister in the States was keeping me up to date, and said it looked like she was expected to make a full recovery. (Which she did in fact do!)... but had I thought for a minute that she's wasn't going to survive the ordeal, I would have gone. Some things are just more important than a piece of paper. My advice to you would be to look inside... and decide for yourself what's gotta take priority.

My take on the whole thing, is that if you have issues getting back in to Canada, even after explaining everything to the border agent, then that agent must be one cold SOB, and try to speak to his/her superior.

All that said tho.... It looks like you and I share similar application days!

My application was received on 12 Feb 2013, and started processing on 28 Feb 2013. So I'm watching you for good news on mine, lol. Good luck, and I hope it all works out for ya!
I am very sorry to hear about your ma! That is just terrible! That's amazing she made a full recovery however! It's such a scare when things like that happen, it makes you really appreciate how much family means, even if one lives far away! Yeah that's what I'm thinking, I mean I've personally had one particular unpleasant entry into Calgary once and since then I haven't really left, just when I obtained a work permit, but that's a long time ago now. He seemed to care, but boy did he grill me with all sorts of unrelated questions such as my family and what not. I'm having mixed emotions about it these days, my hubby and I are really thinking it through, but family comes first no matter what, and I am ready to take the chance.. Or I'll regret it for the rest of my life!

Me too, me too. Seeing somebody getting AIP from 2013 really opens our eyes, we check emails every hour almost to scan through for good news! Thank you so much, and the same goes for you!! :)

I am so heartbroken. One of my favourite grandparents has been diagnosed with cancer. We don't know how bad the situation is, but the fact that he's past 80 it can't be looking good.. I want to travel home, is there not a way we can go for an exception like that? I can't live with myself if I eventually don't see him before it's too late! :(
I'm sorry to hear that. I am in the same position my grandmother who is my life is getting bad and in the last few days she has had a few strokes :'( and my aunt which I love so much she has been amazing to me my whole life now has cancer too but worst than that she is in a really bad depression, she is only 65. Doctor says if she continues like that he doesn't give her more than 2 months.

I do not know what to do either, hubby says "if you feel like you need to go just go, we will figure out what to do or where to go", but we are so far in this process I cannot do that. but in the same respect I don't know if I will be able to forgive myself not seeing them one last time

Hi there,

I just joined the forum as yesterday my common-law spouse has received confirmation that he is eligible to sponsor me as an immigrant ;D. As you can all imagine, we are pretty excited about the good news and looking forward to the next steps. The CIC received our application on January 8th and started processing it on February 5th.

My question is how long it usually takes for the CIC to process my PR application? I know it says 8 months on the website, but I have heard from several people that it takes much less than that. I am sorry if this has been mentioned before, but the search function couldn't really help me.

Congratulations by the way to everyone who have received their sponsorship confirmation or even PR card.

Congrats!!!!!! I would check out the 2012 inland applicants thread as it gives a good idea of the processing times. I think most 2012 applicants have been getting AIP and DM at the same time. Screech is maintaining the 2012 list and he's pretty helpful and you could always take a look at the Google sheet to see average processing times and all in that thread.
