INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Hello Everyone,

I know that this as been discussed previously and I there is some confusion regarding "implied status" however I myself I'm confused and would like to know if some of the "older" members would shed some light on this matter.......

So CIC received our application in September 2013, at that time we did not send an OWP. At the end of the year (December 2013) we had to extend my husband stay and sent to CIC a visitor visa extension (valid 6 months). We called CIC and made sure what forms to send and the agent that we talked with said to send in a OPW which would allow my husband to be on implied status and therefore we would not need to renew is visitor visa every 6 months. So back in December 2013 we sent in a visitor visa extension and OPW. I was under the impression that we had implied status, is this the case?

If anyone would have some info regarding this I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

as far as I know once you send in your OWP to extend your previous work permit you will have implied status up to the point where CIC decide to accept to refuse your application. 2 ways you would lose implied status, one is when issue you an official refusal, second one is if for any reason you change your status(say you decided to study, or you left the country and came back)
this is as far as I know, people here might have another interpretation.

Hi everyone,

My husband received his AIP and Alberta Health Care last month. We haven't done his medicals yet. He went to a walk in and got a bunch of blood tests done (just to check as he comes from a country with poor health care ) and we found out today that he tested positive for Hepatitis B. My understanding is that this won't be an issue for his immigration because "spouses are exempt from the requirement to not be inadmissible on grounds of excessive demand on health or social services". I am just wondering if anyone else has gone through the full process with a similar diagnosis. He went for further testing today and I am very worried because I don't know anything about the disease and we don't have much information about his specific condition. I am also going to get tested, but I have been vaccinated and we always use protection, so hopefully all will be okay.

I'm sorry to hear about this Anchangkengcrawford. I think this is not the grounds for inadmissibility. Just be careful with Hepa B, please check yourself and be vaccinated. Although this Hepa-B virus stays on the system, it is not curable. There are many vaccines available on the market in order for you to get immunized and lesser risks of liver disease. For more information. Please check this , http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hepatitis-b/basics/definition/con-20022210

When your husband received his work permit does it says that he is not allowed to work in healthcare, agriculture, teaching ect?

Princess said her work permit has limitations. I'm aware because I am in healthcare profession.

Thank you. I have been vaccinated (as I have travelled a lot in Sub-Saharan Africa and lived there for two years - which is how I met my husband) and I will be getting checked as soon as possible.

Yes, his says the same things.

"Not Authorized to work in childcare, primary/secondary school teachings, health service field occupations. Not authorized to work in agricultural occupations. Unless authorized, prohibited from attending any educational institution, or taking any academic, professional or vocational traning. Not valid for employment in businesses related to the sex trade such as strip clubs, massage parlours or escort services."

I think it is standard to say those things.

Yes, when the application has no medical attached. I guess I have to schedule my medical soon. I'm in healthcare industry it's the standard procedure for me to undergo this, Thank you so much.

Hi Princess,

Did you send your Medical when you apply for your work permit? As far as I'm concerned, if you don't have medical, you can't work on the jobs that was mentioned above.
I'm done with my medical.

Princess029 you are saying that you have this restriction on your work permit "Not Authorized to work in childcare, primary/secondary school teachings, health service field occupations. Not authorized to work in agricultural occupations. Unless authorized, prohibited from attending any educational institution, or taking any academic, professional or vocational traning. Not valid for employment in businesses related to the sex trade such as strip clubs, massage parlours or escort services."

and that you've done your medical up-front and you included with your application ?

One question : have you included with your application for work permit a copy of your medical exam ?

I did my medical sometime in May 2013 that's why they are not asking me to do my medical again. Only my police check they requested upon receiving my AIP since it is expired. And yes, I applied my OWP permit application along with my Permanent Residence Application. BUT I also think that this is there standard ( I mean the notes saying the restrictions.)
