Unfortunately I have to agree with Screech here. I was in Egypt 4 years ago and a woman at a party I was at, upon hearing I was from Canada, loudly announced she hated Canada but used her Canadian passport to travel. She apparently came here for the 2 years(at the time) and became a citizen and then returned to Egypt. She uses the passport for medical emergencies and for travel. And since I don't meet that many people when I travel I would have to extrapolate that it is more common that we would like to think. It is unfortunate for us all that the world is full of users.
@ToDare. Nobody is denying that fraud exists and the system must detect it and weed those cases out. Can't it be done faster? More efficiently? Can the delays be addressed with an open two way dialog and conversation with the Immigration Minister. To have families to depend on 1 income, no healthcare, not have babies because of no insurance, not travel out till the application is complete ...... can one honestly say that the system cannot serve its constituents better than today?
Thanks to this forum, my sanity has prevailed. Members such as Screech, Allura, and other seniors have helped us wade through the times when we did not understand what the system required us to. And thanks to all for providing emotional support as well.
And thanks to GFDVCA, we have a comparison chart that juxtaposes the waiting time with the rest of the countries, the ridiculous agonizing waiting time that gets longer and longer. It may not have the data to everyones liking but it is a step in the right direction.
GFDVCA, another statistic to show is the estimated wait time at the time of application as per CIC and the actual wait time it took to get the PR status.
Ultimately it may depend on your perspective of what a government is. It is a privilege to get into Canada, but the government ultimately serves it citizens, and there are many unhappy inland sponsors that need this governmental agency to speed up and remedy the delays that have inflicted hardship on them.
