So I emailed off a letter to our MP, first of all asking for a letter of support in regards to our situation with my husband’s record. And secondly with the information about the increase in processing times for Inland, and us not being able to work during the whole process and how it is damaging to Canadian families, meanwhile spouses of foreign students get to work and have health coverage. I also attached a copy of that blog from the former manager of Immigration, a link to our change.org petition, a link to the NDP petition, and a link to our Google Spreadsheet, so the stats can be seen first hand and in real time.
Will update if/when I receive a response. Our previous MP before we moved wrote us a letter to attach to our original Visitor’s Visa Application.
I am also wondering if I should send this to Chris Alexander. I wonder if he would write us a letter…hahaha. But in all seriousness, should I even ask him?? Would it be improper to request such? Could it be bad to explain our whole situation and request leniency? I mention in my letter that as there is no chance for appeal in the case of refusal, I am trying to be proactive and meet the issue head on PRIOR to a decision being made.
I also have a friend who is friends with Hazel Mccallion’s granddaughter. I am also going to be sending this to her. (To those who don’t know, she has been the mayor of Mississauga, since forever…..) While this is her last term, and there is probably not much she can do in regards to speeding up the processing time or evoking changes in the OWP after AOR situation, I figure if I could get a letter in our favor from her, it may even carry more weight than a letter from the MP.
