Does cic call your friends and family to verify information in the letters of support? Just want to know because my friend who gave me a letter won't be in the country for a while

No they don't

I've facebook spammed out the petition!!! - Heartwarming to see the responses and support of my besties.

... Just to followup after I dropped of the authorization from at the Mp office, this is what I was told.

MANY people get married in the summer... take a month or two and then submit applications. Normal slowdown for the year...

My application will not be moved up in que and will still go according to order received.

She also told me that security checks were needed, which surprised me.. I thought Stage 1 for inland is just about the sponsor.

I should get a call back from them next week.
They are going to tell me where they are at with my application.

I am hoping the dusting off of my files... they will realize it is good to go and ready for AIP!

Ah lads we are hooped! :'(

20 June 2013 - Canada’s Foreign Service Officers announce additional pickets in Ottawa and escalated service withdrawals
As of today, all eligible members are striking in the following locations: Manila, Beijing, Bangkok, Jakarta, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chongqing and Astana. Immigration officers are striking in Delhi, Chandigarh, London, Moscow and Mexico City. In Tokyo, economic officers are also on strike. Additional withdrawals of service are impacting dozens of divisions at CIC and DFAIT headquarters in Ottawa.

So we just called the MP and were told that an immigration person will be there to deal with us and we will have to sign some consent form so they can enquire on our behalf

Congrats, I hope you get some answers! Another person in 2012 just talked their MP and got some news on their situation too, I think it will give CIC a reason to pick your file up again and hopefully issue you AIP :)

@jiggy
where is there??? at the MP office?

@Nigea

Yes at the MP's office. Maybe everyone needs to flood their MPs' offices.

@hockey fan
I hope something becomes of it

So I had the balls big enough to call CIC awhile ago and a very nice agent spoke to me. She said they're still doing October 8; so she asked me for my client number and she told me that my background checks were requested on December 21, 2012. So let's see what the next few months will say

Hello, jiggyzealous

This is interesting to me. Makes me think maybe I should call again next week and ask if my background checks have been requested (I applied three days ahead of you). I TRY not to let myself hope, because when hope dies, it's extra painful, but there's a tiny little bit of hope in the back of my mind that, with Stage 1 dragging along so slowly, maybe Stage 2 will be a quick DM.

@QuebecOakie

Yes I feel so too. Some agents will tell you straight up if they've started anything. Others will just be dumb as the process is

@sunflora
It stands for member of Parliament and they can help

I sighned too on my and my husband's behalf. Shared on Facebook. Hope it will help to speed up the process
