As advised previously iv applied for common law visa, im on implied status and hav also applied for a owp.

Does anyone know if I leave the country and work in Ireland until I receive a decision.. Wud that void my owp?

It is a statutory requirement of the spouse/partner in Canada class that you be living with your spouse/partner in Canada.

If you were to leave Canada and go to work in Ireland, you would fail to meet this statutory requirement and they would refuse your application.

Yeah I know your not guaranteed re-entry wit owp.. But really u I don't foresee any issues if I come back with a permit.
I've left the country already twice while PR has been on progress beforey current visa expired and they didn't even mention it. So if I have owl I will take the risk.
I think your right it will be over eight month wait which annoys me, why can't they give a more realistic estimate.

@ MP.

Because you are from ireland, a visa exempted country, airlines don't bother checking for your legal status to Canada. However it is at the canada border that can be a huge problem. You could still get denied entry into Canada however they may overlook it if you went for a short visit. Not for working in ireland while waiting for inland. That is a violation as you are suppose to stay in Canada, not apply inland sponsorship and then take off working back in ireland. That is a form of fraud. If you really want to work in ireland while waiting to immigrate rather than sitting waiting for PR in Canada then you are suppose to apply outland.

Hi! I'm a live-in caregiver program I just got my open work permit last march 2013. So my permanent residence application is onprocess. My boyfriend and I is planning to get marry. So obviously when I applied my permanent residence ladt December 2012 I'm still single with my application. Can I not let the immigration knows that I'm married? I will just declare later on if I got my PR already since I don't want to sponsor him yet until its done?

Be VERY careful here. If you land without declaring him, you cannot sponsor him in the future. Once you enter into a qualifying relationship (spouse OR common-law) you need to amend your application. Regardless, your spouse/partner must be examined - criminality and medicals - unless the visa office explicitly tells you they don't need to be examined.

The definition of family class excludes anyone who was a family member but not declared and examined at the time you became a permanent resident unless the decision not to examine was the visa office's.

So I need to tell the immigration tha in the middle of processing of my PR I get married? Its not gonna be a problem of delaying my my papers since they will update again my papers?

Hello, everyone. New user here.

I've sponsored my spouse (in Canada) for PR.

We applied middle of May 2012.
It was received by Vegreville in July 2012.
We were asked to re-send some documents in January 2013. We sent them in by early March 2013.
A decision was made in early April 2013, and we were told that CIC would contact us soon regarding the decision.

It's now June 2013, and 2 months since we last heard from CIC. Is this normal? We haven't heard anything from them, and we are getting worried.

I went to my MP office... signed a form for them to inquire on our behalf! (apprently they have a special phone line to get through) after hubby signs it, They will inquire and I should hear back in a week or two.

Awesome, nice work!! I am very curious to see what your MP says, it will probably shed some light for inland applicants.

Please let us know what your MP finds out.

Decided to call the call center today. As I thought they are just people off the street and read what is on the screen. She was very accomodating and even asked her supervisor re my application. she told me to call back when the website said processing Dec applicants. Had no reason why they are still on Oct applicants. Total waste of time calling the call center. They are like every other call center. Just ordinary people like you and me that can read.

So for sh.ts and giggles called cic today for find out about my application, the very kind and polite agent told me tht inland applications 1st stage is now 8months and it will soon be update on the website and they still working on oct 8 applications! Well not tht I expected anything other than the latter but just wanted to call anyways! So my prayer is oh God help the helpless and make a change soon!

@Nigea,

OMG!!! So it mean for those who have not received the AIPyet, it may take to 8 months for step 1?

Tomorrow my "Alberta Health Care Card" is going to expire. My boyfriend and I called them today (we called them separately) and asked if they can extend it by using the AOR letter instead because the CIC is so deleyed and I don't know when I will receive it.

The answer is NO! I must wait for the sponsor approval letter only, then I can re-apply my Alberta Health Care Card.

What can I do now? What company shall I buy the travel insurance? Any idea?

Thanks!!!

@Nigea
That's a damn stupid advice they gave to u. They can barely complete October applicants and they're telling you about December applicants. I heard today that stage one will increase to 8 months when they update the website tomorrow or Thursday

Hi guys. just giving an update that i received my owp on yesterday. Stil no update on ecas though.congrats to those who ave landed

Deedeedar,

While it is unfortunate that you would be required an AIP letter to get your health coverage, it is done to reduce abuse and fraud. Keep in mind that there was a time you couldn't apply for any health coverage until you get your COPR. Plus there was a time that you couldn't get your PR card until 2 years has passed thus making travel for non visa exempt country applicant impossible to travel.

Fortunately the rules have been relaxed a bit to allow applicants to get health coverage and get their PR card shortly after landing.
