Hey guys, congrats to every one who's
Stepping on up the immigration ladder!
It's less than a week to my right month mark
Since cic received my application. Today I finally
Muster the courage to call cic(wasn't expecting anything)
The officer was less than helpful, he advised me not to send
Application in for work permit because it will be returned to me.
He also said that they are currently on strike so
That's why there's a delay. When I told him I thought it only effect
The outside officers or work related to outside application . He was agreeing with until
I pointed out that the first stage ( which is where I'm at) is something that's done
Internally. His response was he that he can't give me a reason for the delay.
Pulling out my hair***
I had an inkling that even though the internal CIC staff is not affected by the strike, they are unofficially supporting the strike by means of work to rule or redistributing staff to minimal basic service internally. I suspects that once the outside strike ends the application date for inland on website will begin to move.

My husband received his PR card today.
Just in time for our vacation ... Thank The Lord!
Just an advice , after you land call CIC and insure the officer inputed your mailing address.
We were informed 3 weeks ago that they didn't have our address on file even though we provided it on landing. They said it will take another 66 days since they just added it.
But they were wrong and thank The Lord we got it!

Best wishes.

Landed: April 12
PR Card arrival: June 19
Congrats on getting your PR card and in time for your trip. 68 days since landing seems to fall in timeline posted for 66 days for new PR card listed.

Has anyone been around the immigration world long enough to see a similar strike as the one that's going on right now? Just wondering if there has been one in the past and how long it lasted for...

My husband called Immigration today and some female agent told him that we can expect some news from them next month( we sent our application on Nov 22).That is the only useful information from her. I don't think the reason for delay is too many application..It is impossible that just Oct. have more application than July August and Sept. together.

Don't believe a word those folks say. If October applicants are still waiting for a response, why do u believe them that you'd hear something next month? And besides, they said stage1 will increase to 8 months

I don't think anything weird is going on.

I think there must have been a glut of people trying to get their apps in in October before the new change in rules that kicked in at the end of October.

"Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has introduced a new regulation that requires certain sponsored spouses live in a legitimate relationship with their sponsor for two years or they risk losing their permanent resident status.
"The conditional measure is now in force, which means that it applies to permanent residents in relationships of two years or less, with no children in common, whose applications are received on or after October 25, 2012."

Reading back over the years on this forum and others, the times for Stage 1 and Stage 2 have ALWAYS varied from time to time. It's not like it's written in stone that it's 6 months. It varies. We just need to take some deep breaths and be patient.

I know people are frustrated. I'm tired of waiting, too. But I genuinely don't think we're seeing anything out of the ordinary.

At least, not so far.

Just my opinion...

They say no news is good news. Maybe ur right about DM after 8 months because I'd consider them heartless not granting AIP and not working on stage 2 while we wait; knowing their strike isn't our fault. We paid money so they're not doing it for free

@ figtoria

I am patient but I don't think is fair that some people receive DM after 10 months and others have to wait 8 just for AIP, I mean I am happy for everyone who doesn't have to wait but the diference is huge now.

@Figtoria

What u said about application flooded the office ahead of the new rule is gutter nonsense! Why? The minister made the announcement a date after the rule became effective. They knew if people to know ahead of time there would be a rush to beat the changes. That's the same thing they did with the patents and grandparents program

I am not angry but I wanted to address this about a week or so ago because its not the first time its been mentioned ... This is not about being "impatient". I think some of us are very patient considering the situation, at this point it's just utterly frustrating not knowing exactly what is going on with our applications. Its like we are neither " going nor coming...in Limbo." Yes we all know that the 6 months for AIP is an estimation however not moving from Oct 8 for weeks now is sheer nonsense.... We have a right to feel concerned and frustrated so if you're assuming that we lack patience you are wrong....

I emailed my lawyer last week as calling her is like calling CIC call center.... Helpless!!!...she hardly ever answers her phone anyway (should have done my app my self ) I asked her to call CIC on our behalf to see if she can get some information on our app, information we may not be able to get if we were to call after all we paid her a good bit. Then she said we should contact our MP and have her call on our behalf. .. Oh well....

Some one said they are pulling out hair well I passed that stage, I have moved on from biting off all my fingernails to now peeling off all my toenails . Soon would have to leave my armpit hair to grow so I could get something to pull out ::)

@figtoria,

I thought of this a while back thinking that may be the case. However after reviewing the articles on the new October PR changes, it was announced 2 days after the rule change. So it would have been impossible for a huge influx on applications on account of knowing ahead of time. The announcement of the rule change was made after the change to prevent the flooding of applications before the deadline. IMHO, I do believe the deadline change does have an impact on the timing of applications but by other means such as clearing old backlog before the new rule kick in.
