Hi buzybee, nicjohn, patience21 and everyone in inland2012. It's been 5 days since I landed as PR. Still can't believe that I'm a PR now. One more thing, I accepted a job offer this week. Finally Im going back to work after a long time. Since I migrated to Canada, I never worked because I waited for the results of my PR application. Thank God for all His blessings and for making all these possible.

One more thing. I applied for a work permit on Sept 1, 2012. But on Sept 19, I got AIP. Then on Sept 20, I got stage 2 DM. Then on Oct 15, I landed already. So the next day, Oct 16, I called up CIC callcenter to request for a refund of $150 work permit fee and to cancel my application. They said they will send me refund in 3-4 months. Great.

Congratulations Johanna. I have to agree with your sentiments - it's been one week for me, and it's an amazing sense to realize that it's all happened. There's such a sense of relief.

Good luck to you, and best wishes for everyone else still waiting for the process to finish!

Congratulations on the job and the landing.

Hopefully all of our applications can happen as quick as yours did.. And good catching of the $150. Better in your pocket than CIC's after everything else we need to pay!!!

Hi all,

My landing interview will be on November 22 (I can't wait !!).
My husband and I moved to a new place on October 15th (only the residential address changed,
my mailing address is still the same).
I have done the address change for both him (as a sponsor) and me (the applicant) online.
I am wondering if this could be an issue and lead to wrong information on the
confirmation of permanent residence.
Can somebody tell me what information appears on the Confirmation of Permanent
Residence ? (what address ? mailing address ? residential address ? sponspor's address ?)
Also, did somebody experience wrong information on the papers and had to correct
them ? If this happens, do you still get the papers on the same day ?

Thanks a lot !

Hi everyone:

My name is Minerva and I am new here!! I am sponsoring my husband and we sent the application on July 15-2012 to Vegreville (they got it July 17). We haven't receive absolutely anything from them, not even the AOR. Is this normal? Will I get any sort of letter or e-mail? We want to apply for an open work permit, but we still do bot have the client number. is anyone in the same boat?

Thanks a lot!!!

Minerva
Hi Minerva,

The first letter I received from CIC was 5-6 months after the application. I never received an receipt acknowledgement letter. I just got a letter asking for "Client history update". The next time I heard from them after that was 10 months after the application for the AIP.

You may still have to wait a little longer. They received our application March 12 and we didn't receive an AOR until June 29 which was sent to the sponsor's email. The email should be sent to you and it will give you a client id number. You need to use this number and your details in the ecas. If your husband currently holds a permit ie; visitor visa or work permit, you can use that id number and input his details in order to see what your status is.

Ive been monitoring the processing time family class and it seems on the first stage approval they're doing a months time frame in 1 week time (from 11 months down to 5-6 months) in a few weeks. How short has this ever been? Hopefully it can go to as low as 2 months :)

Nice day to everyone!! :D :D
Thanks! No, my ECAS hasn't been updated yet.

QUESTION!

So I'm filling out the IMM 5710, Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada as a Worker, and I was wondering what do I select for question 3.

"I am applying for one or more of the following:"
- A work permit with the same employer
- A work permit with a new employer
- Restoration of temporary resident status as worker
- Initial temporary resident permit or extension of temporary resident permit.

Now I am going for an OWP, so changing my status from my current temporary visitor to OWP. Would I select 'Restoration of temporary resident status as worker'?

Additionally, there was a bunch of questions I had to put N/A because I don't have a prospective employer as it is an OWP. Is it okay to day that?

Thanks!

(and congrats to all those who are getting their paperwork through!)

For those that did "medical exam" in ontario (or particular in Greater Toronto Area).

Do you mind sharing info either here or PM me about which doctor you used and how was the process and experience?

The reason I am asking is because my wife is Chinese, so she prefers one that speaks the same language in case they ask her difficult medical terms that she won't understand if it was in English. However, we called a few from the list that is given to us by CIC. Those receptionist seems to have something against my wife, she asked them politely about when we can go in for the check, how is the process, and how much.

One say was "$190, come in 9 to 11 tomorrow" then quickly hung up.
Another one just say "$190, come in on Friday" then hung up and didn't give us a time.

I know they are busy as I have my own family doctor and they are busy everytime I need to see them. But atleast the receptionist is more polite.

For a doctor with a front desk of that type of manner, I don't know if I can trust them honestly.

Could you guys share some experience? Thank you :)

Walter,

Mine was in Thornhill,

It was fine but didn't go into much really. Just weight, height, chest x-ray and bloods and that is it done. We needed $30 cash for postage and the rest was put on debit. Again about the same as you were quoted. Just waiting for them to be updated on ECAS now. I did mine over a month ago but still nothing. I think it could take 7 or 8 weeks from what I have been reading on some posts.

I got the same when calling for an apoointment. But there is nothing to worry about in regards to trust, as I would imagine there has to be a certain level of conduct to get on the list of DMP.
