pptk703.. you don't have to worry about your work permit for now. just keep using your PGWP. You have sent your application in the very end of October 2010. As per current Timeline you should hear from Vegreville some where around in July -Aug 2011.. At that point if your application is straight forward, Vegreville approve your sponsor eligible to sponsor and you will be eligible to apply for an open work permit. For that permit you do not require any letter from an employer.

I am currently on PGQP as well, and i am also eligible for an open work permit cuz we already have first stage approval. But i am not planning to apply for that open work permit cuz i already have a valid permit till June 2011. If i won't hear any thing about my second stage status from Vegreville till April 2011 then i will think about applying and pay 150 bucks.
Thank you adzees. So I guess I won't do anything until next summer then. I don't feel like paying the 150 bucks too! Will CIC tell you automatically that you can apply for OWP, or you just apply whenever?

They will mention that in the first stage approval letter. But you can always apply whenever. Just attached a letter with it and mention that this is in connection with the application for Permanent Residency Application Under Spouse In-Canada class, and DO NOT PROCESS IT UNTIL FIRST STAGE APPROVAL.

Processing March....its getting close to April dates.

Fiance and I sent ours back on April 16....next month or two. Its about time!

Fiance got a letter in mail earlier this month saying his work permit won't be processed until the PR ones are processed so he's currently on implied status. Luckily he gets to work under the same conditions of his last work visa. Phew!

Hope everyone has a Happy Holidays :)

I have decided that for part of my contribution to the inlander family that I want to help everyone get through this wait easier and calmly. I figure that by doing this small activity I have planned then in the end of this we will all come out stronger and grateful. Everyday I will post a quote. Like the "Quote of the Day" type thing and everyone can reflect how this quote makes them feel and how they connect it into their life at this moment. I will also be posting a new activity that people could do while applying inland and waiting. Hopefully all of you will feel as excited for this as I am. :)

I will now post to start the activity now!

QUOTE OF THE DAY (Tues. Dec 14, 10)
"Instead of thinking about what you're missing, try thinking about what you have that everyone else is missing."

INLAND WAITING ACTIVITY OF THE DAY
Every day take a picture of something that made you smile or you want to always remember.Make a journal with your photos and write a description about it.Where you were, what you were doing at the time, etc. Then whenever you are sad or want to just reflect on a memory you can flip through your journal. Also, you could make the journal in a scrapbook if you want to be more creative!
Love the quote Love_Young- really needed that today! Getting a bit sick of waiting myself but then I have AIP so I shouldn't be complaining.
Have been crazy busy this last week and have to catch up on what is happening here!

Congrats Asta! Welcome to all the newbies I hope you find this forum helpful and I wish you luck! :)

So so glad to hear that the new activity benefited you kiwikris. And yes you are definitely lucky to have AIP.

Now on to the new update:
QUOTE OF THE DAY (Wed. Dec 15, 10)
"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together. There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you."

INLAND WAITING ACTIVITY OF THE DAY
One of the most popular things recommended to help ease the waiting is to do volunteering. So start looking online and in the newspaper for how you can help your community. It also helps to have references for when it comes time for work and also the volunteering looks good on a resume.

January 2010
Hi everyone, I wish I had found this forum sooner. I married a girl from Cali and I'm working with her permanent residence now. What surprised me was this: As you can see I applied in May and thought that I had a ways to go before they even looked at our application. However, I was passing near the border anyways, we stopped to try and renew her visitors visa, and after 5 minutes of fingershaking for not reapplying for a visa sooner, she checked on the computer and said they started processing in July already, so they were able to renew her visa for a whole year this time! This was at the end of October.

Anyways its sure good to read all your stories, and while I don't have it that hard as I've got a good job to support us both I am much looking forward to getting this cleared up once and for all. It took me months just to get the paperwork together, and I can't imagine how some people have to work to fill in all that information if you have been in trouble with the law.

Cheers and good luck...

Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas!

Adzees, under the current regulations you cannot send in an OWP request separately from your original application. You have to wait first stage, there is no other choice. I explored the possibility before and got the reffering part of the manual in e-mail from a call centre agent as well. Before 2010 they accepted them in between the time of the application and first stage, but not no more. It is just a waste of money to try it, better wait for AIP. I guess though, that you meant whenever after AIP. ;)

Really? So now I have to wait for AIP (which is gonna be June/July according to the current timeline) then apply for OWP? There is no way I can apply now? Please, I'm confused again..

If you already submitted your PR application without the OWP you have to wait the first stage. Sorry, I know how frustrating is to find out about it later. What is your current status? If you PM rjessome, who is like an expert, she will be able to confirm what I just said. I sent out my appl. without it and my WP expired a week ago in December, so I had no other choice than get my employer to ask for a new LMO and send in an extention request. I wish I had known about the OWP and save the headache. You should also know the OWP icluded in the PR application gives you implied status once your current visa expires until AIP. Without it you have to renew your status once it expires and make sure you always stay legal.

Don't know if anyone is benefiting from this small activity I am doing but I certainly hope it is helping at least in some small measure.
Here are the updates for today so hopefully you can read and reflect. Feel free to express how the quotes make you feel or if you have done the activity that I described and it made your wait easier or helped you keep calm during the wait. I am doing this for all of you.

QUOTE OF THE DAY (Thurs. Dec 16, 10)
"We are the perfect couple, we're just not in the perfect situation."

INLAND WAITING ACTIVITY OF THE DAY
Use this time that you are waiting to immigrate to appreciate your own roots. Have a joint activity with your spouse/partner and find out your genealogy history from each others family. It will make you feel more in tune with the struggles your own family once took and how you are doing the same. Find out stories you never knew before, people you didn't know you were related to, and also teach your children about their own family history. I think you find this a fun activity for the whole family and knowledge that can be handed down from generation to generation.

They received our application 5 months ago today. Only 4 more to go. Hopefully it will be good news.
