Well I suppose if your last name was something fishy they may do extra checks. There is any number of reasons they might do extra checks HOWEVER we have no reason to assume that any of these reasons apply to SaugaBoss. They just told her that she was in background checks, it was a very generic stock answer that they give everyone.

I think we should all just sit tight and see what happens. Start worrying about this stuff maybe 6 months from now if it's still not done yet :p

@giggles: i agree with u i mean i can see if my parents were in pakistan then yea they would but y would they if they r already admitted and living in the US without a hassle n r US citizens

@plumosa: i know i wasnt worried about being behind or anything just when i noticed that ppl who got the same email were waiting for almost 1 year. and the CIC didnt say 1 year, they didnt even give me a time line just said it can be lengthy bc they have no control over it its the 3 companies working on their behalf... the CSIS this girl screwed my mind she said it takes 1 year or maybe more i dont thnk she knew wat she was saying...they didnt say extra checks just said:

We have requested background information from other government

>> offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot provide a date when the processing
>> of your application will be complete.
Because of the many agencies involved and the importance Canada places
on these checks, their processing is often lengthy.

@canucky: i understand where ur coming from but thats the US officers not Canadian on top of that the US processing times r longer than Canada...and they never said they r doing extra BGC. to u they did tell u they r but not to me as of yet that is

@yorkfactory: how do u know they do this??

i did worry at first but now i think about it i was bugging out for no reason everyone has a BGC my whole random picking scenario seems false.. 2 lawyers told me i will be fine and not to worry...

After I landed, but before I moved to Canada, my dad (who lives in the U.S.) went on vacation to another province, and upon arrival at the airport, was asked the purpose of his trip, the last time he had been in Canada, and then whether he had any relatives in Canada. (I had jokingly suggested that they might ask about me, because his information had been on one of the forms, but didn't think they would actually do it.) He explained that while I was a PR, I hadn't yet moved to Canada, and received a "Thank you. That's all I needed to know." I don't believe they ask that question unless they're pretty sure what the answer is going to be.

Creepy, no?
