I have no idea about the score, but it’s not 7 for sure. Maybe other members of the forum will be able to answer to your question better.

I don’t know any resources, but you need to focus on tenses, working with past participle and articles. Also, reading others’ essays will help you a lot.

Good luck!

Hi every body,
My latest IELTS score is like this: R8.5 L8.5 S7.5 W6!
I really want my Writing result to be 7 or more.
Could you please help me with assessing the following essay:

"
Nowadays more and more tourists are visiting places with difficult weather conditions, such as the Sahara desert and the Antarctic region and so on. What are the advantages and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places.

Today, there is an increasing number of people who are interested in tours that visit places with wild climate, such as a very hot and dry desert or a freezed site. Visiting these places can be in general advantageous for the tourists, however, there are some drawbacks in this regard.

Visiting a place suffering a difficult weather condition can be disadvantageous. Firstly, some visitors might overestimate their capabilities and skills, which would expose them to several indefinite risks. A major risk is a silent disease that one can live with for a long time and not knowing about it, that make such a journey harmful or even fatal for them. Next drawback to these journeys could be the uncertainties the visitors might face. Known touristic sites are well-prepared to receive tourists, and that is because they have experienced as much practices to discover relevant benchmarks.

On the other hand, travelling to places with wild climate is beneficial. In this way, human beings shall have the chance to challenge themselves. For instance, people from the equator who may never be seeing a snowy weather, can actually live in a hotel made by ice and snow in an Arctic zone. Furthermore, many visitors can become familiar with the hardness other people are struggling with, every day. When the visitors return to their hometowns, they will enjoy their normal lives more, and will look at minor difficulties with a smile.

In conclusion, visiting places with harsh weather conditions is generally beneficial to the tourists by challenging them, as well as increasing their awareness of a normal life. Disadvantages of such tours are mostly the possible risks that are caused due to the uncertainties.
"

Thanks in advance.
It would be more great if you could give me specific comments and/or references to improve my writing skills.

An increasing number of people now prefer to pay a visit to those places that have exotic weather and climate. Although these visits offer a lifelong experience to tourists, there are many potential risks as well.

On the positive side, when people visit the Sahara or the Antarctic, they feel good. It is unusual for them to see such extreme temperatures and weather conditions as they have always experienced those that countries or states normally have. For example, visiting -40 degree Leh for residents of Australia is an unusual activity because in their nation mercury remains between 15 and 40 degree celcius. As a result, they will cherish their this journey forever. Besides, people start caring small things, such as food and water, after they visit remoteplaces. This is because they themselves experience hardships to get these things when they themselves are on tour.

On the negative side, paying a visit to these unusual places can cause many problems to the body of visitors and may affect their body structure as well.It in usual to suffer from heat stroke when a person visits the Sahara or frost bite when an individual experiences the climate of Ladakh. In addition, since there are too less persons on these places, it is difficult to get aid if persons find themselves in a situation of uncontingency. Almost no repair shops, confectionaries, hospitals and pharmacy may increase problems for them.

In conclusion, despite facing problems, more and more tourists are visiting the remotest places on the Earth. It is recommended to take extra caution when visitors plan to visit such places.

Hi!

See my comments in red.

If you want 7 you should for sure improve your grammar, learn a fixed number of words/synonyms every day, then you may also want to read essays by other users in this thread to get to know the structure of a band 7 essay. You need to take time and read whatever advises we have in this thread to at least avoid common mistakes.

Good luck!

Today, there is an increasing number of people who are interested in tours that visit to places with wild climate, such as a very hot and dry desert or a freezed first of all, it's frozen not freezed, secondly, freezing would probably be more suitable here site. Visiting these places can be in general advantageous for the tourists, however, there are some drawbacks in this regard (you can be more specific what advantages and disadvantages you're going to talk about).

Visiting a place suffering a difficult weather condition can be disadvantageous (you added no value to your essay with this sentence, cuz of course there are disadvantages, or else you wouldn't have this question). Firstly, some visitors might (may? can?) overestimate their capabilities and skills, which would expose them to several indefinite risks. A major risk is a silent disease that one can live with for a long time and not knowing (can not knowing?) about it, that makes such a journey harmful or even fatal for them. Next drawback to these journeys could be the uncertainties the visitors might face. Known touristic sites are well-prepared to receive tourists, and that is because they have experienced as much practices to discover relevant benchmarks.

On the other hand, travelling to places with wild climate is beneficial. In this way, human beings shall (should?) have the chance to challenge themselves. For instance, people from the equator who may never be seeing (have seen) a snowy weather, can actually live in a hotel made by ("from" - not a single ice or snow has made a hotel by far :) ) ice and snow in an Arctic zone. Furthermore, many visitors can become familiar with the hardness difficulties other people are struggling with, every day. When the visitors return to their hometowns, they will enjoy their normal lives more, and will look at minor difficulties with a smile.

It would be more great if you could give me specific comments and/or references to improve my writing skills.
1. Cut short topic sentences, simply avoid repetition. Try to be on point.
2. Try to be somewhat specific to show in depth knowledge of the topic. Overestimate skills --- which ones diseases -- which one hardness which one minor difficulies -- which one. When you incorporate some reasons related to these things, you'll support well. Cover your word limit. Avoid repetitionrepetition - writing again or writing different sentence giving sa.e meaning.
3. Your main explanations mostly use sentences with AND. try to use along with, besides and all to show variety.
4. Work on modals also.

I am also learning and hope you'll agree with my thoughts.

Hi! Read a lot of band7+ essays.

An increasing number of people now prefer to pay a visit to those places that have exotic weather and climate. 1. I’m not a native speaker, but I’m almost sure you pay a visit to a person and you visit a place. Don’t go too far with paraphrasing. If you feel you are lacking synonyms, it’s better to learn new words. 2. When showing a trend/tendency (e.g. an increasing number of people doing smth) it’s better to use present perfect (continuous), or present continuous like in the question - an increasing number of people has visited (has been visiting) sites with extreme weather conditions ever since traveling became widely accessible; or - an increasing number of people is visiting sites with extreme weather conditions worldwide; or at least - an overwhelming number of people visits sites with extreme weather conditions every year. Although these visits offer a lifelong experience to tourists, there are many potential risks as well.

On the positive side, when people visit the Sahara or the Antarctic, they feel good you didn’t think this was going to be this easy, did you? :) too general and too informal - what exactly do you mean by “feel good”? Be more specific - they experience unusual emotions or come across with extraordinary sceneries - smth like this. It is unusual for them to see such extreme temperatures and weather conditions as they have always experienced those that countries or states normally have obviously, you experience the weather condition you experience :) , you need a stronger support for you main ideas. For example, first you say the positive side is that people experience something new. The support could for example answer to the question WHY? Because for example human beings have always tended to discover something new throughout the history. Then the question SO WHAT? So, it’s in our genes to look for something new and feel satisfied when we find it. . For example, not mandatory to say it’s an example at all, since obviously that’s an example visiting -40 degree Leh? for residents of Australia is an unusual activity because in their nation mercury remains between 15 and 40 degree celcius. As a result, they will cherish their this journey forever. Besides, people start caring small things, such as food and water, after they visit remoteplaces. This is because they themselves experience hardships to get these things when they themselves are on tour. You sure you need this part?

On the negative side, paying a visit to these unusual places can cause many problems to the body of visitors and may affect their body structure as well. Instead of writing that long sentence you should have said can cause health issues or can have a negative impact on health. Seems like you just tried to put as many words as possible, well don’t. :) each word you put in your essay must serve to the purpose of addressing the task. It in usual to suffer from heat stroke when a person visits the Sahara is it? or frost bite when an individual experiences the climate of Ladakh. In addition, since there are too less few persons please please google the difference between person, individual, people and human! on living in these places areas, regions, zones, it is difficult to get aid if persons find themselves in a situation of uncontingency what’s this word?. Almost no repair shops, confectionaries had to google this “Confectionery is the art of making confections, which are food items that are rich in sugar and carbohydrates
” don’t just add random words here and there please
, hospitals and pharmacy may increase problems for them.

In conclusion, despite facing problems, more and more tourists are visiting the remotest places on the Earth. Despite the positive emotional impact, visiting regions of extreme weather conditions may affect tourists’ health negatively. It is therefore recommended to take extra caution when visitors plan to visit such places. Practice on paraphrasing! For example you could say “when planning to visit such places”

Adverts that have potential to upset people have no place in a civilized society, Discuss

An Advertisement's primary objective is to be eye catching and make the observers to be
immersed in it. Any aspect of life which causes people to freeze in shock momentarily, however
if an advertisement has the potential to create discord among population has no place in a
civilized nation, i would narrate my views explicitly in the paragraphs below.

Sell, buy, showcase products/movies and myriads of information has been the role of
advertisement since the start of civilization. The arrival of the gilded age saw rapid economic
progress and the freedom to choose from millions of products and what stands out is how the
product is advertised. Most of the adverts cater to fears, aspirations of the human psyche to
make the consumers purchase the products. There are some advertisements which have
crossed the line of decency and have been outright offensive and have led violent
repercussions. The prime examples are advertisements by United Color of Benetton, Pepe
Jeans, PETA, to name a few.

To further elucidate, United Colors of Benetton ran a print and television adverts of the Pope
kissing a Muslim Imam, President Obama kissing the Chinese President. What is surprising is
it's a clothing firm and there is no logical answer to run wherein millions of people were shocked
at the first glance and there were many violent protests in many middle eastern countries and
eventually they were withdrawn after massive hue and cry by one and sundry.

Freedom of Speech is the cornerstone of democracy, nonetheless when such advertisements
are produced they act like shouting fire in a crowded theater and has the potential to cause
unspeakable damage to the fabric of the society and they should be shunned by one and all.

Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets there is no need to go to the cinema. Others say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Many prefer watching movies on their phones, whilst others prefer to experience it in a cinema house. This discussion would elucidate both the viewpoints with a section dedicated to my opinion too.

World at your fingertips, this is the catchphrase which has enticed all, furthermore phones and tablets with enormous computing power have become the norm, gigabit speed of internet has turned phones into mini cinema on the go. Traditional media houses have joined the bandwagon by introducing Netflix, Amazon Prime Video among many, which host thousands of Movies, TV shows and Documentaries. For example, in 2019 the digital platforms in India have introduced cut throat pricing. Phones have broken the barrier of affordability and even a villager in remote location is able to relish movies at his own pace and leisure in the comfort coziness of his home.

Cinema lovers emphasize that experiencing movies on large screen with special acoustic technology such as Dolby is second to none. Movies such as the Avengers series or Avatar can only be relished in a multiplex with 3D and 4D technology. Going to the cinema also leads to more social interaction between friends and family. The age of Cinema has not seen it's sunset yet, the prime example is the expansion of the Inox and PVR chain of multiplexes in India.

All things considered, I opine that both of these mediums have their place in the society catering to a myriad of populations in ways we have never seen before and none of them can be shunned.

In Conclusion, phones and tablets have revolutionized entertainment landscape, nonetheless there is a sizable number of old school film lovers who love to watch the reel on big screens too.

IELTS GENERAL TIPS! (my score LRWS -9,9,7.5,9)
Reading- The key factor is managing time. Be fast on the initial passages and focus more on the long passage that is usually at the end. The key to answering long passages is to use the SKIM & SCAN reading technique.
(i strongly suggest to read the question first and then read the passage for answers as this eliminates the chances of making assumptions)
1- Look for keywords
2- Facts that are exclusively mentioned are true else do not make any assumptions.
3- Practice practice and practice ! (under time a controlled environment)

Speaking- As a native English speaker i had no issues in acing the speaking test. My advice is to be confident and be as fluent as possible. The test is very basic and I believe the reason test takers under perform is due to stress and fear!

Listening - Watch English news channels such as BBC & CNN without subtitles to improve listening skills. My technique to tackle the listening section was to write down each word on the rough worksheet and then transfer it onto the computer at the end. IT is important to read the question ! it helps to anticipate answers.

Writing - I scored a 7.5 in this section mainly because i got lazy and the topic i got was very boring. You can use IELTS essential words and phrases available on the web to improve your vocabulary and sentence formation. The KEY here is to tell a story that is well linked.

Hope this helps!

I guess repeatedly asking WHY is immensely beneficial.
1. Keeps highly on track
2. Adds to Task Achievement

I am working on essays according to your feedback.
In modern times, young adults are spending more time with their friends rather than with their family members.
Why this is happening?
Do you think parents should force their children to stay at home with them?

Is Task Achievement OK?

Youngsters spend more time with their friends rather than with their parents and siblings in recent times. One of the main reasons for this issue is that the young feel restricted in their homes. Also, mothers and fathers should not influence them to stay at home to make their relationships better.

Young adults feel restricted when they are with their family members because their thoughts are not welcomed normally in any conversation or any decision. It is a tradition in most countries in which every decision in a family is taken by an elder member, whether significant or not. Moreover, it is believed that adolescents are immature and not capable to take any decision. However, they feel relaxed and valuable when they are with their friends since friends decide and negotiate every activity mutually. For example, parents force their children to study whenever they are at home; however, they study according to their schedule when they do group study with their friends.

Parents should refrain to force the young ones to stay at home. This is because the young blood is usually immature and can take any wrong decision when they are not given liberty to do things according to their needs. This decision could lead to a rebellious attitude against parents or to increase dependency on illicit substances to cope up with the stress caused by their parents' autocratic behavior. Moreover, it can affect their long-term relationship with their parents which they may realize later in their life. For instance, the intimacy between mothers and the young ones is higher in the United Kingdom than any other country because parents allow their children to do things in their way without questioning their capability.

In conclusion, independence is not felt by youngsters when they are at their home and this is the main reason why the young ones often spend more time with their friends where they feel liberal and free. It must also be noted that fathers and mothers should not force their children in any manner to stay home as they are immature.

Hi All,

I am new to this website. I have passed IELTS twice, but struggling to get 7 in writing as many :( Would appreciate your valuable comments regarding my latest essay.

Many students take part-time jobs while studying in university.
Do you think it is a good idea or bad idea???

Nowadays, working part-time during the university years is a common practice among students. In my opinion, I consider it as a positive trend because students realize the value of money and the importance of the competition in the job market.

On the one hand, students who manage to combine both work and study effectively during the time in the university tend to benefit later in life and I agree. Firstly, those who start their career early in life understand the value of money and as a result, they gain money-management experience which is crucial skill for anybody. In other words, keeping balance between earnings and expenditures is useful not only for business people but for any individual who starts to pay bills from the received income. Secondly, students ought to learn how to compete with each other in order to be successful later in life when, as adults, they must compete against others in the job market.

On the other hand, part-time jobs during the learning process in the university may distract a student from gaining knowledge. Students in universities often have a tight schedule, especially in the MBA course, they possess very limited free time, thus working even a couple of hours a day can be an exhausting experience. Students have to apply themselves while in university and the emphasis should be on the learning process and gaining valuable knowledge.

In conclusion, while people may vary in their opinions whether this tendency is positive or negative, I think that students, who can dedicate time for working up to 20 hours a week, stand a better chance to succeed later in life.
