Well this is an immigration forum so of course i'm focusing on my residence rather than talking about my feelings for her. That's for a different forum. When the person you're closest to and sacrificed so much for comes out of the blue and says not only are we over but so is your life here and everything you've cared about/ wanted for 6 years...yes It's a bit more compicated than me saying "oh dang, guess i better pack up and move on". Spent too much time here working way too hard and was going through so much over this latest CIC delay that taking from me now is just leaving me devestated. I won't stop fighting for my life here in Canada, and it is ridiculous that it is this hard for someone as established here like me to actually live here permanently. It's cruel on many levels. Just because I wasn't born in a country with horrible living conditions doesn't make it any easier/better for me to go back. There was a reason i wanted my life here.
When you put it that way, it sounds much better than the impression I was getting from you earlier. Basically that you HAD to be here and you'd hurt yourself if you were forced to leave. It sounds over-exaggerated to me. No one said it was easy. Nothing in life is really easy, especially with a life changing decision like this. I sacrificed a lot to be in Canada and would be devastated if I had to leave. However, I wouldn't go as far as hurting myself or losing my mental sanity as you have previously stated. Life is too short. Again, it's not as bad as you are making it seem. I wish you the best on your journey and hope you find a way to remain in Canada.

I am not saying I will committ fraud because even if I wanted to i could never convince her to do it. But as for the 2 year thing, isn't that for conditional PR for couples that were together for 2 years or less? I read that if you've been together longer than that those rules don't really apply. But who knows. I also was under the impression outland US applicants were waiting 30 months instead of 7. This whole "unclear" thing has totally ruined my life, so thanks CIC for the lack of clear information, and the huge delay. I would have had PR before the breakup and would have had legal security if not for this. I feel completely screwed over in many different ways by different people.
I am sorry you heard about the 30 month outland wait for US applicants. US Outland moves a lot quicker than inland. They actually encourage applicants to apply outland.

I think the conditional PR will depend on your common law dates ... were you living together as common law for 2 years prior to submitting the application? if so, then i believe you will be exempt from the conditional PR. They won't count the time you were bf/gf...

I have been looking into CEC. If i put myself out there and put my resume out there, how would I go about getting a work permit from my employer? Like if an employer signs me on for of the neccesary skilled jobs to qualify for CEC, how would i get a work permit to be able to legally work for them? I want to start handing out resumes putting my name out and spreading the word around hoping someone will pick me up, but when they ultimately ask how in the heck to go about getting a permit for me to work for them. I have no clue how to answer :/

Implications for Sponsorship – Application Being Processed

If your sponsorship application is still being processed and you are not yet a permanent resident of Canada, divorce from your husband could affect your status because you are no longer considered part of the Family Class. Most likely, you would have to leave Canada and reapply to enter. There may be exceptions to this. You may apply for permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. For more information, go to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

Consult a lawyer about preparing this kind of application.

If you feel you cannot afford a lawyer, you may be eligible to receive legal aid.

To qualify for a work permit you first need a full time job offer from an employer in Canada. The employer must then apply for and obtain an approved LMIA (the LMIA gives the employer permission to hire you). As part of this process, the employer will have to advertise the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. The employer will then have to pay a $1K processing fee and submit the LMIA application for processing. Processing can take anywhere from 6 to 16+ weeks. If the LMIA is approved, you can then apply for a work permit.

Some employers are LMIA exempt, rare but there are some. Good luck.

Exemptions are only for very specific situations: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-permit.asp

Most typical LMIA exemption is if the worker qualifies under one of the NAFTA designated professions.

Most typical LMIA exemption is if the worker qualifies under one of the NAFTA designated professions.
The general rule is that individuals applying for a Canadian work permit require a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), formerly called a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). However, there are a number of exemptions to this rule. The group of programs that are exempt from the LMIA requirement are called International Mobility Programs.

Canada also has bilateral and multilateral agreements with certain countries in order to facilitate the movement of foreign workers across borders.

The following individuals are exempt from requiring a Labour Market Opinion:
•Workers covered under international agreements
◦For example, NAFTA Work Permits. The North America Free Trade Agreement allows professionals and investors to obtain work permits without a labor market opinion.

•Dependents (spouses and children) of Foreign Workers holding a Canadian work permit for a skilled position. ◦Please note that this does not apply to the spouses of working holiday visa holders.

•Provincial Nominees ◦
Individuals holding a certificate of nomination or selection (in the case of Quebec) who have a job offer in the province where they were nominated/selected do not require a labor market opinion. The Canadian federal government is re-negotiating LMO/LMIA exemptions with the provinces and territories during 2014, so provincial nominees may be subject to LMIAs in the future.

•Intra-company Transferees
◦Foreign workers who have worked for a branch/subsidiary/parent of a Canadian company abroad and who are coming to Canada in a managerial/specialized knowledge position do not need a labor market opinion.

•Participants in programs such as the Working Holiday Visa program or (IEC)
•PhD students pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship at a Canadian university ◦This exemption applies not only to individuals who studied and were granted a PhD from a Canadian university, but for any individual on a post-doctoral fellowship at an institution in Canada, regardless of the country where they studied.

•Co-op students ◦Where a work placement or internship is part of the field of study, the foreign student does not need to obtain a labor market opinion.

•Religious Workers ◦Foreign workers in Canada who are working for a charitable organization or religious institution.

•Spouses and common-law partners of full-time foreign students are eligible for open work permits (not requiring a job offer or a labor market opinion). ◦This category also applies to the spouses and common-law partners of Canadians who have sponsored them in Canada and who have obtained approval of the Canadian sponsor.

Note: Being exempt from the LMIA requirement does not mean you are exempt from a work permit. All categories on the LMIA exemption list still require the individual to obtain a work permit to legally work in Canada.

You just re-posted the exact info from the link I provided.
As I said, LMIA exemptions are not common, and the most typical one is if you qualify under a NAFTA qualifying job. Other than that, none of the other exemptions will be of any use to the OP.

My common law partner of 6 years has decided she does not love me anymore and no longer wants to be with me. I applied to become a PR inland on October 3, 2013 and have been waiting nearly a year now for stage 1 approval. My entire life is here, everything I know and love is here, everything I want is here and this is where I need to be in order to be mentally capable of getting on with my life. That may sound extreme but it's just how I am wired. I have been dreaming about a life here for too long now, have gone through so much to get to the point where i am and am so close to actually acheiving it. I went to school for 2 years and worked for 1, none of which fall under the skilled worker program and I find it hard to beleive that finding an employer who will sponsor you comes easy. I am wondering how else I can possible live here? As I said, my entire mental health rests on being here. I may be able to eventaully get over my common law partner but I cannot lose her AND the entire life that I have come to know here. I am in dire need of help and am willing to hear any sort of advice. How do I go on establishing a life in canada? What are my options? is there any way she can still sponsor me? We submited the application with genuine intentions had no thoughts of "fraud' throughout this entire process. She would still love to sponsor me but if we legally aren't a couple anymore there's literally no other class she can sponsor me in. Is fraud even something to worry about or could we move on through this process easily and officially separate afterwards? i have no idea what to do. I am asking every possible solution here. I fear that if i don't find a way to keep my life in Canada afloat I may end up in a mental hospital or risk harming myself. I am so lost and don't know what to do. Thank you in advance for anything. Ugh.
If you have been living together for 6 years I think that your main concern should be to try to work on your relation,
Every couple has ups and downs, and sometimes we need help,
Forget about your future in Canada and focus un healing your relation,
that is very important. Taking care of one thing will take care of the other.

I haven't read the advises that many people have expressed,
but all whom has express opinions have a good view as outsiders,
sometimes when we are in the situations we can not see clear...

I hope that you can work on your relation and that the peace returns to your life.

Blessings

Some of you really don't understand what you have to do sometimes to get somewhere, this person has been here 6 years, 6 years working and paying taxes. He deserves his PR more than a lot of people here an he is SO CLOSE to getting it.
So basically it's ok to lie to get something you want? Gotcha. Good luck with your career in politics, you will do well. Would you also explain how he deserves his pr more than "a lot of people here". Living here and working doesn't give you any special status when applying as a spouse. Lucky for the rest of us schmucks you have no say in the decision making process.

To the original poster...sorry to hear about your situation. Hope everything works out for you in the end.

NAFTA is probably the best bet for me. I would look for a job in Graphic Design as that is the qualification I actually have from my studies. If I could find an employer in that field who would be willing to hire me, what do THEY have to do to get me approved? Are we looking them spending 1k+ from paperwork and whatnot? Or do they simply just have to write a letter on my behalf? How does this all work? I have read up on the website but if anyone has been keeping up with this thread, reading websites basically caused me to apply inland instead of outland. So I would like advice from real people first lol.

As for the relationship, I tried to rebuild it, the love is very much still there for me and I would love to rebuild but she seems like a totally different person and is just in a zone of her own right now. Sadly :(
