Hello,

First of all thanks a lot for creating this space for this type of questions. It’s really helpful.

My husband is a Canadian citizen who sponsored me not that long ago to become a permanent resident. I believe my citizenship will soon happen if I comply with the subject policies.

Anyhow, I have a daughter back on Colombia that is 27 yrs old, has no children and is soon to be married. Would I be able to sponsor her to become a PR here in Canada? Would I be able to do it if she is married? Would it be easier before she is married?

Any help you can provide me would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

No, you would not be eligible to sponsor your adult child.

My father (82) and mother (76) are both Canadian citizens and are in increasing need of full time care. They have relatives but are all very old and require care too. I am a US citizen. Can my parents sponsor me to come to Canada to care for them?

Not unless you are less than 22 years old and not married/common-law.

How and when did your parents obtain Canadian citizenship? Any chance they obtained it before you were born?

As others have said, they cannot sponsor your for PR. However it would be good to confirm if you are entitled to Canadian citizenship by descent or not.
