My wife is a memeber of a chinese forum as well, and she told me the same, that there are some cases where they got the visa after 6 months in HK, this including Mississauga processing time. Probably the straightforward cases.
FS you have a very good chance being one of those and you may come back home before Christmas.

i stayed away from the forum for a bit. I see I did not miss much. Just heard from one of my wifes class mates who applied in october that they are due for interview. They were both divorced before and applied right after marriage. Both are chinese but he lives in Toronto. Guess they pick those who applied right after marriage for interviews. Good that my wife and I were 9 months delayed.

Hey Fencesitter,
I looked up the lists from January on. Seems we are the only ones in 2012 to sponsor spouses through Hong Kong. So many signs show towards a rather quick processing compared to the last few years. Marty's timeline shows a faster processing compared to previous years too and he might be done shortly after the interview ( within 12 months?).
Overall signs are positive. We just need to go through the step 1, which seems to be more unpleasant than step two, as you know that there is no step after two and the day of good news would be next.

That's where you're wrong....the next step after 2 is on Canadian soil!!! HAHA!! I'm going to french kiss the customs officer (male or female or dog...I don't care)!! Of course, then the next step would be to the holding cells...then deportation...then sponsoring myself as a dependent...then an FSW...maybe an open work permit...I can't wait until I never have to think of any of these abbreviations ever again!!

But yes, I think you are spot on...and from what I have heard from my wife, HK is processing faster than what is displayed on the officially crap CIC website.

Hey FS,

You were writing in another thread about some demonstrations at the Cnadian Consulate in HK and that the mjority of the participants were not canadians (excuse my french). What's that all about ? I'm coming there next month, so just in case.....

They were mostly Chinese and Indian. I didn't see any white folks in the crowd of protestors....the next protest is on June 1 and I might go down to support. There must have been Canadian citizens there, just not any white people...and the protest was about the processing time being so long...and also how the fake marriages got approval but the real marriages were being denied...something like that...

I'm really going to try to get down there to meet people who are going through the process and try and talk to a rep from the Consulate about all the problems....

Hong Kong: 20% of cases completed within 7 months, 30% in 8 mo., 50% in 11 mo., 70% in 16 mo., 80% in 19 mo.

Hey Guys,

Flying to HK tomorrow morning. 15 hours flight, but at the end of the day, we will be rewarded (hopefully) with being together for the rest of our lives. Hope to visit Macao, this time.
I will share the experience, after my wife's (and possibly mine) interview. And what can everybody else learn from this.
