Hi All,

I'm glad there's a HK timeline! I am sponsoring my parent to immigrate to Canada and they're currently residing with me. I submitted my application to CPC Mississauga. I was wondering on the police certificate request form if I should put the address for Canada or the one in Hong Kong? Please advice!

Thank you!

Anybody else applying through Hong Kong?

I think a lot of folks applying through the HK office do not speak English. I've read that the numbers of applicants is quite high. Hopefully not...and going by the April thread, you and I are the only ones...which we can only pray translates to lower numbers of applicants overall.

I still don't understand the difference in processing time between HK and Beijing. I wish that we could apply via Beijing! Still, I am guessing that our applications will be processed quickly...

yes, I was asking myself the same question, why so much difference between Beijing and HK ? The only answer I could come up with is that probably the HK office is severely understaffed, but again why ??? 13 months difference for 80% of the cases ? When I get there in June I will ask them.
When we did the medicals for my wife and her son in July last year, we mentioned Beijing VO, knowing that it is only 5-6 months, but when I received the AOR, they said that the file will be sent to HK VO, due to my wife's address location, and then later on the e-Cas, they showed that "medicals have been received", meaning that Beijing VO faxed them to HK VO.

I posted earlier in this tread updated timelines. There is a statistics site that shows that the number of applicants from Hong Kong office has dropped significantly during the last few years. Taiwanese have to go through Hong Kong too. They seem to be really picky in Hong Kong as there have been many fraud cases from Mainland people from specially Guandong and Fujian Provinces as there are more people with money due to businesses. As you guys already said, there is a higher rate of fraud when there is marriage between couples from same background. We have solid proof of genuinity in our relationships and the cases are rather straight forward. I think you will be going easily through Marty11 during the interview as your times together have been shorter and you applied earlier than Fencesitter and I did but alone the interview is a good sign as you have a good chance to make a case and proof your relationship in person. I had an interview when I applied for immigration 14 years back applying as entrepreneur. It looked grim but i fought with all the English i had to convince and show my determination. Just be relaxed and take more evidence that you gathered after you applied with you. Your wife will be with you before next winter. I think there are more complicated cases and that there is a rough screening of cases when they arrive in Hong Kong to fast track those straight forward ones. I know Taiwanese get their Visa pretty quick, so obviously they are being fast tracked.

study this. It gives some hints around developments throughout last few years. Unfortunately there is no differentiation between the kind of spousal application. ( Chinese-Chinese, Canadian-Chinese ).

Yes, I tend to believe (and sorry if this offends anyone) that the chances of marriage fraud between a normal white Canadian guy and a Chinese woman are basically zero. I doubt the VOs are looking too closely at such cases, especially if the married couple have a child and two insane dogs :P

I know that all three of us (Marty11 and mobeyk) will breeze through and probably fall within the 20% processing time...maybe even faster.

It's definitely good news for us that the number of applicants have dropped in the past few years. Perhaps that's why I haven't seen too many people posting about Hong Kong. If you look at the threads for January, February, and March, there are only a few, if any.

If there really is such a thing as 'luck,' it's on our side...we'll all be in Canada soon!!!

Is it the CNCC from HK police? If so, then it doesn't really matter which address you put there, as the HK police will send the CNCC police cert directly to the visa office. In my opinion, if they don't have anyone at their HK address to pick up letters and act on their behalf, you may well put your Canadian address down.

Thank you. I thought so too to put my Canada address after not hearing from anyone for ahold. Do they really send it directly to the visa office? I thought I should include a prepaid self returned envelope for the results. Did you do this or not necessary? Please let me know. Thank you again!

Yes, they will send the cert directly to the visa office. You have to provide them the letter/email from the visa office for the request, and the address of the visa office so that they know where to send the result to.

This is mentioned in the website below. It was also confirmed by the staff at the enquiry line, and via email. Specifically for my case, they must have sent my CNCC to my visa office because I have got passport request.

Detailed instruction here for applying from overseas:
http://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_useful_info/cert_no_crime.html#oversea

"6. If no criminal conviction data against the applicant in Hong Kong is located, we shall issue the Certificate and send it directly by registered mail to the relevant Consulate / Immigration Authority / Government Authority within four calendar weeks.

7. If criminal conviction data is found, both the relevant Consulate / Immigration Authority / Government Authority and the applicant will be replied with a letter advising that the Certificate could not be issued and listing out the conviction data by registered post, within the prescribed period."

Thank you gogogo! I sent in the request today. I couldn't buy stamps for the self return envelope for HK anyway. The post office didn't have stamps for it. And your reply gave me confidence that I don't need it. :)

You're welcome. Glad that I can help, and good luck with everything!

Hi evryone...i juz received my lmo last week.. Can u guys post ur timeline plss.. Applicants based in hk only..thnks

My wife is a member of a Chinese forum similar to this one. She has been reviewing a few recent cases for mainland applicants via the HK VO. To her surprise, and mine, cases where there is no question of the genuineness of the marriage are processed SUPER fast. A few people had their visa within 4.5 months (including the sponsor approval waiting time). If you have a solid case backed up by good, quality proof, it seems that HK is processing these cases very quickly to clear the backlog.

This is awesome news for anyone who has a strong case!!!
