Hi All,

I am a newbie here. Like sing_tao I just gone thro 30 pages and found that I have done some stupid things in my application. I really hope if I had found this forum a bit earlier.

Just wanna share my case here. My husband is a neutralized Canadian citizen working in Hong Kong, while I am a pregnant Hong Kong wife. Here's my timeline:

4 June 2012: File Application
(8 Aug 2012: Pregnancy result positive!!)
3 Sep 2012: Intention of returning to Canada additional document required
10 Oct 2012: Additional document sent
25 Oct 2012: PPR + Medical + Police Clearance + Baby delivery date medical cert Request
25 Oct 2012: eCas status changed to "In progress"
2 Nov 2012: PP + Medical Forms + Police Receipt + Baby delivery date medical cert Sent
12 Nov 2012: Medical checkup sent from clinic to VO
16 Nov 2012: Police clearance sent from Police to VO

My "stupid thing" is I should have my medical done well before but not have it done upon request. It more or less delays my application. Two more things that make my case more complicated:

1. Just before I received the PPR, I had planned a Taiwan trip for leisure from 15 - 18 Dec 2012 and booked airticket (non-refundable, non-transferable) and hotel already. Now I can do nothing without my PP return!!

2. My baby's expected delivery date is 4 Apr 2012. I guess it's not a good idea to move to Canada before the baby born, since in Ontario medical card will only be issued after landing 3 months. Therefore, our plan is to move to Canada after few months after baby born, and then apply citizenship for my baby (But now the next question is my baby's medical coverage after landing....so complicated....)

Now I am a very anxious pregnant wife and keep checking the eCas status all the time!! This forum reliefs me a bit for more and more applicants get your PP back finally, and seems the HK office is quite reliable and professional.
Usually, i found that almost everybody in this forum gets their medical done prior to handing in their application. I was the exception. This was the norm when we immigrated over 30 years ago! Obviously, things have changed and not thinking or reading clearly, we did not do a medical prior as it did not make sense to us. Anyways, the HK Visa Office is quite efficient and it should not be a concern for you.

Having gone through the process, I can now say, just wait for the letter from the HK VO and not the website if you're in HKG. As in our case, we also live and work in HKG and seeing an additional address on my wife's e-cas stating Canada as such, and we received the registered letter on the same day. HK post is that fast. The website is somewhat fustrating and not seeing a change is agonizing. But since you have received the request and sent back the passport, there is not much more you can do. Good luck. Hope you receive your passport soon and go on your trip to Taiwan.

Thanks for the replies!! I think my problem was having read the application package and the cic website too thoroughly!!

When I was filling out the forms, I noticed the medical checkup form were inside the package. However, I also noticed that the process time in Hong Kong is about 19 months. For all we know that the med checkup is only valid for 12 months, it's too weird that the checkup is deemed to be expired. Therefore, I asked the one of the designated clinics. It's the clinic told me that I might choose not to complete the med check at the beginning until the vo tells me to do so, if I don't want to do the second time.

Anyway, yes nothing I can do now... Fortunately our travel plan was only to go to TW but not anywhere else more farther...

I think in our case it even helped that the medical was about to expire as it caused a fast tracking of the application in its last days and we received the passport back quickly. It is always best to submit all that is possible right away to avoid delays later.

Good news to me! The pp returned today, 2 days before my tw trip!!

The package includes the following:
1. PP (not enclosed with a visa as expected)
2. A cover letter (one of the statement is "A visa has been issued only if you hold a passport from a country which is not visa exempt for travel to canada. If you hold a passport from a visa-exempt country, only a COPR has been issued to each person.")
3. 2-page of COPR (issued 10 dec), received today (13 dec)
4. Attention for PR card photo specification

For item 4, the 1st paragragh is:
"The photographs you submittted to this office do not meet the requirements to procedure Permanent Resident Card for you, and your family if applicable, at the port of entry. You are required to bring to the port of entry, a photograph taken according to the standard set out below, along with your permanent resident visa.....

My questions are:
1. Are you all successful cases like me, only 2-page COPR received, but not a visa stapled on the PP?
2. Am I need to mail photos for PR card issuance to VO, or just have it prepared upon my arrival to Canada?

Thanks mobeyk!!

So there should be only COPR, but no visa is needed in my case? I am a HKSAR passport holder.

COPR is enough in your case. You are from a Visa exempt country.

There is a QQ group dedicated to the HK office. I think someone posted the info in this thread.

There is also a Chinese site similar to this one, but not too many people reply to posts, so it's not a very useful tool.

I think this site is by far the best one out there.

Hi Guys,

I am wondering where I can find the excel file link that includes the number of cases processed in the Hong Kong office every quarter/year?

I am sure someone has posted in this thread before but I couldn't find it.
If anyone knows, could you kindly posts on here again?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian now residing in Hong Kong as a housewife. Recently, I wanna apply the Family class sponsorship for my husband. After going through the whole application kits, I just realize there are few questions that confused me and I really hope anyone has that kind of experience could help us out!

First, I have been living in Hong Kong for 3 years. and in those years I am a completely housewife depending on my husband ( He is a certified accountant) so that I do not have any personal incomes and never been filed for tax issues. Will that be a problem for our application?

Second, since I don't have personal incomes and of course no tax files, do I still need the " Option C printout"?

We haven't filed the application yet, so that any of your advised will be highly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

Did you ever file taxes in Canada? If so you can get your option C. I have been in China for ten years but I still got an option c.
