Hey guys, I need some quick advice/help as we're freaking out a bit right now.
Even though I am currently in Canada on a study permit, we decided to apply outland(visa office would be Vienna since I'm german) because of the much faster processing times. Now today we got the email that Mississauga approved my wife as sponsor which should have us celebrating but the sentence after that quickly dampened every feelings of joy:

Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative has been forwarded to the visa office in CPC-Ottawa for further processing. This visa office was selected based on your relative’s country of nationality and the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

We clearly put Outland application on the front page and used all the right country-specific documents for Germany and outland application.
Why would they send it to Ottawa which afaik only processes inland applications and applications from the US?
Does this mean they accidentally or non-accidentally sent it to Ottawa and it is going to get processed inland?

Please help us out guys, we're panicking.

It's still outland. Ottawa processes tons of outland apps when other visa offices are overloaded. They are a pretty quick visa office.

Inland apps are not processed in Ottawa. So no need to worry.

Don't panic. Many Outland applications are being sent to Ottawa/staying in Mississauga. It's likely due to the fact that you are currently in Canada. You should be quite pleased because ottawa has one of the quickest processing times out of all the VOs :)

This is the first time I've heard of someone panicking over their app being sent to Ottawa! It's good news, not bad. Sometimes they will send apps to Ottawa if the applicant is in Canada, sometimes they don't.

Oh really? I didnt know that, thought Ottawa is processing inland and outland from the US only.

So you guys are 100% certain that my application is still going to be processed outland?

Also If i can add this little question: We sent in our application only with the record of solemnization since the marriage certificate takes 12 weeks to process. we also explained this and said we would send in the marriage certificate asap once we have it. since we just got the AOR two days ago, i was going to send it to Mississauga tomorrow but now I see the application already being sent to Ottawa. I thought Mississauga is going to check if documents are missing and asking for them, no? Or can I expect Ottawa to email me soon to request the marriage certificate? Is it encouraged to then just already send the certificate to ottawa now before they even ask for it?

I would send it to Ottawa now. Put as much identifying information on it as you can - both names, both birthdates, the file number. Say you want to add it to your application.

yes. more than likely it's because you have current, legal temporary status in canada. a lot of european files get sent to ottawa because of overflow. this is quite typical so relax.

you can send it now or wait for it to be requested.

I'd love to have my app sent to Ottawa; instead of slow a** NDVO.
So don't worry, all is well.

Maybe I can shed some light on this Vienna/Ottawa situation. I noticed this a while ago on the Vienna embassy website

"Visa and Immigration section is no longer open for submission of applications, documents or passports, or any enquiries"

I believe Vienna is at maximum capacity, I hope this helps with the confusion ! :)
