Or a mutual friend/acquaintance?

All it takes is someone to "congratulate" him on the success of his wife becoming a PR. Then the fun begins...
Or someone to ask him how the PR application going? He would be interested then after if the conversation ended with "we are now separated"

Whenever possible you may need to avoid mutual friends.

Of course but that won't happen after 1 year of separation.

Well the next thing is within the next week or two proceedings to make the separation legal will be pursed. I will be contacting a lawyer to write up a separation agreement that we will both sign to start our 1year waiting period so we can finalize the divorce there after. When and how should I address this to CIC ?

I don't think you need to. You do not have a conditional PR, you have full PR.

It would be up to your husband to make a claim to CIC if he wanted to try to get your PR revoked.

Would filing for separation 1 week after landing look a little too suspicious to CIC? Wouldn't it be better to sit tight for a few months?

I would go with keesio. You may want to wait a while before making the move. It is way too close for comfort to make CIC suspicious and favour the husband in revoking PR on misrepresentation.

Agreed. You don't have to hurry to get separated/divorced. Leave it for a while. Better yet, let it come from your husband. That way, you can always say that when you landed, you were of the opinion that although you had problems, you would work it out and in the end, it was your husband who pushed the separation / divorce. As long as there is nothing in writing proving otherwise, you are good.

You landing and a week later pushing a legal separation screams misrepresentation, that you knew you were about to legally separate and you decided to delay it just long enough to land.

When you don't have any processing going with CIC, there is absolutely no reason to report any changes in family status, change or address or anything else to them. Currently, you have no processing going on as you already landed. Therefore, you do not have to report a separation, divorce or anything else to them. You are however waiting for your PR card so you should keep your address updated until you get it.

I cant believe people are congradulating and supporting this person.

Family class sponsorship is so that families can be together. Period. Stop. End.

If she is not planning to be with her husband then she has no business whatsoever completing the PR process.

She should not be in Canada. I'm not saying she did anything illegal, she seems to have used the system perfectly to get Canadian PR (and soon Canadian citizenship) but morally she has abused the system and morally no one should be congradulating her for that.

Normally, I would agree, but she has been so screwed over by her inlaws, she deserves a break...

I second that. If her in-laws hadn't changed her address on file without her knowledge making sure they received her COPR, she would have landed already 9 months ago. If her in-laws weren't so controlling and meddling, maybe she'd still be with her husband too.

When you have a lawyer doing the bidding of the in-laws instead of looking out for OP's interests, that is a huge problem. As far as I'm concerned that when the lawyer or the in-laws changed the address using her login info, that's illegal. This shows meddling from the in-laws.

So under normal circumstances, OP would have landed long ago. But when you got inlaws preventing OP from landing, the inlaws and husband deserved to get screwed over.

Really? I wasn't aware that I didn't need to report any changes in family status once I have landed..
well at the moment the separation is of a mutual understanding even though it is initially coming from me based on many unlivable conditions and other factors that played a role in this decision making. The thing is the longer I wait the more I risk my spouse becoming uncooperative with the separation and divorce situation.
And again like many of you are saying I would have landed last summer had my papers not been with held or had they arrived to the family address I had originally provided in my application. I was shocked when I called and found out that the address I provided was nowhere in their system.

From your side I can understand why things may seem that way to you but to be fair you lack the knowledge of my situation as well.. I did not "use" the system to obtain PR and when it comes to "morality" I have not been treated justly throughout this whole situation. I wonder if you knew more or had been in my shoes if you would still be of the same opinion. Nonetheless I respect your views..
