Another question that crossed my mind last night....has anyone heard of someone being refused stage 1? And for what reasons? Just currious

only two reasons for stage 1 refusal 1) criminal record of assualt....especially on a family member and 2) you are currently in receipt of welfare.......to date I have not heard of anyone being refused!!!!!!!

That was my confusion, I assumed that this was restricted by the Cuban govt and not Canadian.... so the hard part is still there! Sucks

ok now I'm beyond stressed. I will give hubby embassy number to call. I will also send an email.

Has anyone read Bulletin 423??? It says it's up to the officer discretion to send for a reassessment..

I've gotten conflicting advice; go get another medical asap or you can't get till interview.

The letter states its up to us to request a new medical. So maybe I'll have him call where he gets the medical to ask them.

I'm late to this medical issue. But definitely don't just go out and get a new medical, I know somebody who did this, trying to be proactive, and it messed up their file. You need to get an envelope with a bar code at the Canadian embassy for a 2nd medical so it relates back to your file. When my husband went for his interview his medical had 1.5 months left on it. They said we could take the visa that day but that they highly recommended redoing the medical as if the medical expired before he left the country the visa expires and there is no recourse. The immigration officer said if there is 2 months or less on the medical they counsel folks to do the new medical to avoid the risk. We chose to do the new medical, thank goodness, as it took another 5 months to get his baja and 1 month to get his pve.

I have heard of a lot of people needing new medicals post-interview, I've never heard of anyone's medical just being extended. When we did it they gave us the option of paying $50 for DHL (the results go back and forth to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) which cut the wait time to 20 days. The mutual friend of PSandy and I who had to do it in Sept was told DHL was no longer available and that the wait was 40-50 days.

I think the one thing you could do is contact the embassy and try to get that envelope pre-interview so the medical is in process and the wait time isn't as long.

I believe they will all still need visas this is just the exit permits they are getting rid of.....so no more PVE or PRE......but be sure there will be something to replace it......visas are from the country you intend to visit so that will remain the same.....what is happening is that the cuban goverment is suppose to be allowing more cubans to leave for visits for travel purposes.......right now they deny many people to leave the country even when a visa is issued.........

so does this mean if hubby arrives after the 14 of jan, i no longer need to apply for the PVE or the PRE? He just needs his passport and canandian visa?

at this point that is anyone's guess.......they are talking different passports so who knows what the requirement is going to be....it is a wait and see.....like most things in Cuba

Luvcuba I'm stressed now because they asked you for proof that you had been back since you filed app. I have not been back since May when I returned and filed the app in July. I should have went in August. but I have so much going on it's almost impossible We talk every night on Facebook and I call alot. We text. Do you think that counts for something? This summer my grandmother died, my son quit university and moved home depressed, and I lost my job... I started a new job but now it's harder to get away... ugh....fml. Sometimes I don't think I can make it... I am so depressed. I am out of cash...........................and still have so far to go. I just want to be there so much.

DDG.....don't stress about that...they don't ask specifically for proof that you have been back...they ask for further proof that your relationship is continuing...so that needs to be submitted....you can also submit at that time a letter why you have not been back since you filed the app.......you have very good reasons......send the fb pages, send your texts and your phone bills........it will be fine........don't look for additional stress mi amgia

awww luvcuba....hugs inserted right here for you........concentrate on the interview...do not stress about the medical.....the embassy might have even requested an extension on your behalf already.......just think 9 days till your husband hears the news....visa issued......chin up....all will be okay...

Don't worry about the medical.... My step daughters has expired October 11 this month. I inquired with many people and a lawyer. If it's due to expire before visa is issued they extend it for 4 months longer if they think the application can be complete by the end of the 4 month extension. If not they request another. But... you have time. Enjoy your victory, you and your husband are a name and a family now, not an application and a file number. If you end up waiting just a few months longer, because of this medical, it's a small price to pay for how far you've come. There are so many (like me) wishing we had what you have this week!!! I'll be saying lots of prayers for you, although you won't need them!! XO
