Thanks so much!!!

Cuba announced yesterday it is getting rid of the exit visas come January.
This is making me wonder now if going with the PVE may be the best bet.
I have to do a little more research and get hubby to go ask at immigration, but then again it's Cuba and may all be complete bs lol

Sassylassie, no you cannot send him for another medical. The officer is the one to decide. The officer might extend the current one if within the 15 month timeframe as per the new assessment or send him for another one altogether.
That is what I thought you ladies were saying. Thank you for clarifying.

I know shuster2210.....will it go through and what are they going to come up with to replace it??? I truly can't see them letting that money grab slip away from their fingers......suppose to take effect Jan 14/13...so it will be interesting to see what they are doing........until we know someone who goes through the new process and get their experience we probably will hve 20 different versions!!!

wait, wait, wait.... what does this all mean? No affect on emigration right? other than they wouldnt need the actual visa when they left? that would be the only change in the process?

Then travel would be open to Cubans?? Like actually? we can have his family come visit us over the next summer just like that?? I'm shocked!!! I heard about this last year but I never really thought it would happen... not anytime soon anyways...

So they would be able to just leave and go on vacation, with extended travels requiring a visa from the country travelled to? Is that it?

I believe they will all still need visas this is just the exit permits they are getting rid of.....so no more PVE or PRE......but be sure there will be something to replace it......visas are from the country you intend to visit so that will remain the same.....what is happening is that the cuban goverment is suppose to be allowing more cubans to leave for visits for travel purposes.......right now they deny many people to leave the country even when a visa is issued.........

Let me tell you IT IS A CHALLENGE. This change is nice ONLY in the way that it is one less hoop to jump through after a visitors visa/perm resident visa is issued by the country they wish to visit/move to. But as KJG said....what will they replace it with?
But let me tell you from personal experience...getting a visitors visa issued by the Canadian Governement is REALLY hard. My husband and I tried only once to get him to come for the birth of our daughter...A BIG FAT NO! And he met other people in line who were on their 6th attempt to apply for a visitors visa. Maybe in the future when more Cubans do not defect..then Canada will trust them a lil more. Canada is affraid they will come here and suck on our welfare system...even when the person inviting has money in the bank and enough money to cover all travel costs. They say they want to see sufficiant funds in the cubans bank account to pay for their own travels AHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry I needed a reason to laugh :)

How are you ladies doing on this beautiful Tuesday morning? Everyone staying positive?

That was my confusion, I assumed that this was restricted by the Cuban govt and not Canadian.... so the hard part is still there! Sucks
