@jsm0085,

Thanks a lot for the update.

I am very suprised with CIC giving different replies to different people.

Aren't those people who should guide us with correct process?

Thanks,
Deepak

They should but likely they read the same information as you and I. I totally agree with you though, there is a need for them to be much more knowledgeable and definitive in their answers !

I will update you as soon a I hear back from them.. Hopefully soon..

Guys,

I had one of the immigration consultant in Canada verify it for me.

When he called up CIC, they told him that , even they (CIC) are not aware if the dependent on the PR application will receive an bridging open work permit as the process is very new. However, CIC promised to call him back in 2 days with an answer.

CIC callled up the consultant and informed him that even dependent will receive an open work permit.

At least something to cheer for us. Hope this information helps everyone with the same question.

Thanks,
Deepak

Based on the information I got from a cic agent over the phone a week ago, the spouse will also be eligible (if included in the application, plus $150 fee) for a bridging open work permit as long as he/she has a valid work permit when application is submitted and the application is received within 4 months from the expiry date of wp. I included my husband since we both got same timelines on our work permits.

I filled the application but i cant mail it yet as I am experiencing troubles with my payment, I never received an email with an official receipt from cic but credit card was charged. Phoned cic and they said to allow 5 days then call again. So much stress over these papers... My pgwp expires in 2 weeks :'(

I had applied online to change condition/extend work permit prior to the Bridging Open Work Permit was announced, back in late October (and paid $150). I later cancelled my application (due to lack of LMO) as advised by a CIC consultant (but chose to keep my fee for future applications). After the BOWP was announced, I log on to MyCIC account to retrieve a copy of my receipt and printed it to send in together with my new application.

Try logging onto your MyCiC account (if you have one) and see if you can find your receipt in there.

Thank you shells for the advice, I logged in ( i've been doing it every day for the last week) but the most recent payment I made does not show up on my record. I can see all the other payments I made in past but not this one... Don't really know what else to do, they said to phone again if it doesn't show by Wednesday. I am stuck until this clears up or else I have to make another payment so I can mail my application this week.

I withdrew my application for the bridging open work permit as my pgwp just got extended until September 07, 2013. Just got the new wp in mail after 82 days since the date I applied. Those who applied for bridging open work permit keep posted with processing times, I will reapply in May if I dont receive medicals request from CEC till then. Good luck!

That must be a big relieve for you.

i was applying to extend my WP through LMO but i cancelled the plan since i have heared of this OB, so Monday FEB 4th my lawyer will send my application for this OB. CIC told me processing time is 3 months, so i hope i ll get the new open work permit before mine expires.

After your current WP expires, you will automatically become implied status (based on the fact you already applied for the Bridging open work permit. That means you can carry on working with your employer under existing conditions.

Does anyone know the answering reading Working Holiday Visa participants applying for the Bridging work permit; is it possible?

Thanks.

It's not excluded, therefore... :) Presumably, you'd have to be on your 2nd?

I have a specific case if anyone can help me or advise.

My Open WP is up the middle of March, I am sending my CEC application next week but I guess I will be waiting 3-4 months for my AOR.

I will be applying for the BWOP before my WP expires but I wont have the AOR before then, I was advised that I could send off my BWOP application with a cover note stating that confirmation has not yet arrived from CEC and to please hold onto application until it does, I know one or two lawyers that have done this.

Any thoughts on this or anyone in similar situation? Thanks
