I got my PR from CEC category. I am currently in India and searching for a job in Canada. I have 1 and half years of Canadian Experience.

I have 8 years of overall IT experience in Java/J2EE/Websphere Portal/ADF/JSF.

Can anyone please help me with the job search tips or contacts ?. Have uploaded in Monster and Workopolis.

Hi Newtone,

I have followed your other posts and replies to seemingly genuine doubts from new-comers. Sorry to say, but your replies do not help the cause. And in some cases are dis-tasteful to say the least.
Please refrain from posting. Not sure what your agenda is, but, People join forums like these to get a helping hand or a good suggestion at the least.
Discouraging them would be very easy, try motivating them. I am sure no one is so naive to not have their own fall back options.

Btw, Thanks (Or rather no thanks) for your reply.

P.S : One piece of info that might interest you. I tried, and now, I do have a job offer from a very reputed company in Canada. :-)

Thats awsome, can you please share the name of this "reputed company" so that it can help other people. After all people join forums like these to get a helping hand or a good suggestion at the least? Even if help means telling them there are tons of opportunities here when in fact there isnt. So please share the name of this company so majority of people can get help.

Congratz, see what being positive does? Your another prime example of ignoring these negative posts and doing your own home work.

Good luck in your new job

I agree that there aren't tons of opportunities, but why be so blunt and eliminate the possibilities itself ? I am sure people like me would have ignored you and did their trials. The problem is only with the gullible. Give them a word of caution but don't make it seem like its impossible to achieve. As i said earlier, people are experienced here to have their own fall back options.

You seriously think i would name the company in a public forum ?? Which company hired me is immaterial. Rather i would like to dwell on, What did i do to get it ?

So, to help the people in this forum. I can share my job searching experience.

1. I Updated my resume in Monster.ca , workopolis.com .
2. Kept applying for jobs which fall in my domain.
3. After one month of posting my resumes and applying online, i got a call. I did grab the opportunity.

Other things i suggest.
1. Having a updated LinkedIn profile helps. Connect with most of the Canadian recruiters there.
2. If you are in India, try getting into companies which need resources for Canada.
3. Connecting with your ex-colleagues or friends in Canada goes without saying.

So, yes, the calls are rare. But be alert and do not miss any opportunity that comes your way.

Note : I have PR under CEC category. My Canadian work experience helped me too.

Congrats, i also got my first job recently...it took me 5 months to land in a professional job. Yes its difficult, but not impossible for sure.

Yes I seriously think you should name the company in a public forum. If the company is reputable then why hide the name? Unless its multilevel marketing or some sort of other scam. What you've stated as points is nothing new. Everybody is doing that. Rather it would really be helpful is if you share the name so that other immigrants with similar background can have an equal opportunity to apply. By you not disclosing the name goes to show your unwillingness to help others

there are some private details which one should not post on a public forum, it has nothing to do with helping or not helping other...how would a company name help another person anyway

By disclosing the company name other potential candidates can apply for jobs too. It would be a very big help

If you can be discouraged by just a few innocent posts of newtone, then you should be asking yourself if you are ready to succeed in this country. If a few words can discourage you, what about real on-job pressures?

They have freedom of speech here so nobody is in the position to tell anyone whether they should post or no.
If you do not like what others say, it does not mean they should shut up.

I myself find newtone's contributions helpful. Reading his outline of job market difficulties helped me stand up after every job rejection I received and tolerate the humiliations of every low-level job I did before I got a professional job in my field, because I was consoled that I am not the only one suffering. And even now when I have a good job, I come here and read his posts to give myself motivation to overcome challenges on job, because I forecast what kind of swamp I will be back to if I do not keep this job.

So newtone, please post.

So you posted on August 26 that you are looking for job requesting tips, and only a week later you claim to have found a job online from India with no face-to-face interview? Well, let us assume that interview was online by skype, but what about security and reference checks? These normally take a few weeks, if your company is indeed so reputed, and for people with less than 5 years of residency in Canada they are especially long and tedious.

Darling, I am sorry but I would rather believe that my 200-kg neighbour will become Victoria Secret's new bikini model than this job hunting miracle.

Please do not lie.

This is simply not how interview process with a "very reputed" company in Canada works like.

You made your post on 26th and now have a job offer? Lie.

You either had a job offer before, the company is a scam, you got it through other channels, or you are not even Indian, but just post to irritate other posters.

If your offer is genuine, you would post this "reputable company".
