You know what, I would 100% agree if IRCC did that under normal circumstances.

Do you agree that IRCC is in the wrong here by not giving clarity about processing outland applications while CEC applications have specific timelines and all kinds of communications from the IRCC.
I can’t imagine what these folks would do if IRCC started treating them like FSWs.

Regardless of whether the world has moved on from Covid or not, Canada must allow these people to land. They are under an obligation to practice fairness and uphold the Canadian values. It is the reason why many of us want to immigrate to Canada.

Yeah you're right. And I think Canada already has the means to land us while minimizing additional introduction of the virus to their country. But without justifying their actions, you can understand that government organizations can be quite slow and rigid because of bureaucracy.

Well yeah, if someone is dumb enough to think that the mega draw happened because they pay taxes, sure, i agree.

People are usually not dumb. They have weird sense of self worth or sense of them causing what good happens to them. Misfortunes are often blamed on others or situation.
Eg.
I got invited in CEC.
(Why?) Because I contribute to economy/tax or canada! "Baby I am worth it!"
(Real reason) Damn pandemic stopped immigration so IRCC just scooped up everyone with a heartbeat.

Covid excuse doesn’t make sense anymore as there are no longer travel restrictions and everyone is allowed to enter Canada. Maybe there is a reason behind still not allowing outland immigrants to land but it’s most definitely not Covid. If they can bring 40k refugees into the country, they can do the same to approximately same number of economic immigrants. Whatever their reasons are now, they must communicate to set the expectations right.
Hopefully things will change like you said the bureaucracy can be slow and takes time for change in policy.

Its more the question of covering one's posterior. Current govt is a minority one, past one too. If current administration allows immigrants from outside, that will be used as a stick to beat current administration. It will make them unpopular enough to be flipped out in 6 months or so. Which one looks worse?

Its a question of maintaining image and value signalling, IMHO. Image matters more than reality.

One of my ex roommates, that guy was extremely smart but he couldn't handle small failures and stress because all his life he was successful, now he is depressed and an alcoholic. Moral of the story
"Alcohol is not a solution to the problem what ever it is"
And alcohol is a depressant, I am sure you know just a reminder.
