All should prepare for the worst if it isn't clear by now. 2y+ of wait is just commonplace and may become the new norm thanks to the cesspool of Y2020. Set your sight on that and you'll be pleasantly surprised if the actual turnaround is less than 2 yr. One might even feel grateful!

Wait...I thought you were about to implore that ppl give up on CAN altogether...but still you're eyeing the passport from the country you despise so
Imagine your boss treats you really bad, but yet you still accept taking your wage from him. So what?

People invested time (literally years) and money in this immigration investment, and opportunity cost of trusting the process of IRCC is incomprehensible. Some people could have studied a master's degree in another country and get PGWP, use another immigration path or maybe make different choices in their respective home countries. Nobody will say "oh IRCC is bad, I'm offended therefore I should withdraw my application." It doesn't work like that.

I'd argue that one always has the freedom to just quit the job to end this abusive relationship. Going on would be bad for his mental health.

We all have choices don't we? Unlike say Afghan refugees (not the ones IRCC used as a poster child to cover up their incompetence) or dissidents in an oppressive regime etc. You can always jump off the sinking ship and seek alternatives. Why stick to something with a proven track record of being incompetent, hypocritical and unsympathetic?

1.8 million seems really scary, right? It can be till you look at the details...

There are 255K Economic workers out of that 1.8 millions.
ONLY 48K CEC EE
ONLY 50K FSW EE
and
17.6 K TR to PR

Point is clear, EE and economic immigration seems to be priority for IRCC over other ones like Family (even spouse).
I don't expect massive delays in EE applications beyond this pandemic effect, which I think is almost over as far as IRCC goes. They are processing 45K application a month these days.

Yeah, looks like a better analogy would be: you desire for your dream girl so badly but she treated you like trash with disdain. You therefore vowed to dump her in style once you were able to score a s*x with her...

The thing is, people actually worked 2 years for that abusive boss and it is time to get paid now. Is it logical to move forward and not to take your well-earned wage even if it is paid late? yes, you'll swear at your boss every single day, and forever remember his mistreatment, but you earned that wage.

If IRCC is going to give everyone 2 extra years to live, along with all the money we paid for everything so far including all IELTS test fees, medical exam fees, consultant fees etc. Yup, I'm ready to take it, and apply to a european university for a master's degree to get PGWP afterwards.

People have way passed the point of no return man. I get what you mean, but it is too late. People need a decision to move forward with their lives.

I have always planned on leaving and settling in the country I “despise”. Not here for long term.

What if dumping her was always the plan?

And we have to remember that these are ‘in-persons’ applications (inclusive of dependents)

As at August 2021:
‘In cases’ (primary applicant) applications for:
FSW- approx. 29,400
EE PNP- approx. 14,000
Date- August 2021

This would have reduced by some numbers now especially since PNP has seen some movement since October and FSW since November

NB: In-persons is the number of applicants (including dependents)
In-cases is the number of applications

Not all have alternatives.

To be... honest... the analogy breaks much earlier. You do not need to even cancel the application. Let it keep on going. It will come when it is done. Meanwhile you move ahead with your life. Your life pauses ... if you choose it to pause. Just don't care and move on and it will be just the same. Heck while at it, you can try getting a job elsewhere. British are asking for more workers these days.

The following tables provide detail on the backlogs by permanent and temporary residence program:
Number of Permanent Residence Applications in Processing Inventory as of October 27, 2021 by Application Type (in Persons)

Ok I don’t remember the numbers per the last table revealing figures as of August, but has anything moved? Honestly I’ll be ok if there was a good decrease in processing inventory but I think the numbers were still over 50k for fsw from the previous data which shows it hasn’t moved much.

I feel the same. This whole boogieman issue is due to TR apps where 80% will get rejected anyways, thanks to chinook. They will probably have cleared CEC and TR2PR by the end of the year. Of course everyone who gets ITA now will have a wait of at least a year next year, because there is enough PR for quota in backlog. But that’s not that bad.

FSW only resumed November. That table is from end of October. You will only see movement in table on January when people with PPR start landing.
