Dear Friends,

I have been a mute spectator to the cooperative awesomeness of this forum for months. It's really quite remarkable how people from all over come together to help realise each other's dreams.

I have a quick question regarding the reference letter for my primary occupation.

The NOC 2011 website describes 2113 (Geoscientists) as rather broadly. The 13 duties listed on their website covers various kinds of Geologists with very distinct and specialised job description. It can not be possible to assimilate all of those into a list of duties for a single Geoscientist. Also, I was a field personnel, which means that I had no office or regular hours of work. I was sent on different locations and assignments each time.

In my case would it be acceptable to simply state that I was a full time employee?

The reference letter I have received from my employer is worded as follows. Could some of you please study and advice.

Thanks and regards - Apoorv

assigned to work on well sites world-wide for as an Exploration Geologist, which consists in executing drilling programs aimed at creating substructure profiles to detect and determine oil and natural gas deposits. Below is a summarisation of his duties.

• Review and correlate subsurface information from local geological studies and offset wells to identify formation tops, target zones and
total depths.
• Plan and conduct on-site laboratory petrographic analyses and description of rock samples.
• Observe real-time parameters and analyse electrical, porosity and lithology logs for formation evaluation.
• Provide technical oversight, quality control and operational recommendations for drilling optimisation and hazard control.
• Generate daily and post-well geological reports, coordinate transmittal and dispatch of all data and samples to the client, and share
learning and insights to aide field development campaigns.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures and protocols.

You have to ask your employer to include the Average Working Hors per week. Because CIC evaluates an applicant weather he was full time employee which matches their requirement of xx hours/ week (usually its 48 hrs/ week OR 40 hrs).
And furthermore, the roles you are mentioning should match atleast 70% of JDs described for your NOC Code. It's not that you have to have it matched 100%. Include your average hours per week.

All The Best..

Hello mate

It's a trouble many face. I myself could have filed my application in September, but it got pushed to November bcos of delay in obtaining reference letters from my employers.

Now, hours of work and pay is required for them to believe that you do work FT. I suggest you include a Copy of your appointment letter, pay slips, contract copy and if possible, a recommendation letter from your supervisor or a senior co-worker accommodating for the deficiencies in the main reference letter.

A letter with good brief of duties and the purpose of your job also caters the need, which you have now.

Good luck :)

VO won't be sydney, Nova Scotia if one is applying for FSW from inside Canada then it will be CPC-Ottawa.
