Hi everyone! I am newish here, and have been asked to find out some things for a friend of mine, a Taiwanese citizen who is being sponsored for PR by her sister.
She has questions specifically about the Hukou; we've tried contacting the HKVO directly, but haven't received any responses:
First, she wants to confirm that the HKVO needs the document with her personal information, i.e. name, address, bithday, and records of moving and marriage (if applicable). (Apparently, in Taiwan the "hukou" can also refer to a register of all people living in a household, rather than just the personal information of one individual. She's not presently resident in Taiwan as she's working abroad temporarily, so doesn't have a current address there.)
Second, she wants to confirm that she doesn't need to provide her parents' hukou. They are deceased, so she wants to be sure that she doesn't need to provide proof of this with their hukou.
Finally, she is apparently able to get an official version of the hukou in English, i.e. the office can issue it directly in English, so removing the need for translation. Would this be acceptable, or would it be better to get the Chinese version and add a separate translation?
Thanks for your help, folks! I am sorry if these questions have been answered many times before - I haven't been able to find answers for them on here.
