Hi Future Canadian,

I landed in Canada in July, applied for my PR card, and left after a couple of weeks. The PR card was delivered to my friend's address in Canada a few days back. I will now be re-entering from the US later this week, in a private vehicle with just my COPR.

Is it necessary that I should be from a visa-exempt country? I have not come across this requirement before.

Many thanks,
prash42

I am not sure. But I would like to know, it takes how long for your friend to receive the PR card after you submit the PR card form?

Thanks!

I got the passport request and RPRF on 10 Sep and submitted the requested doc on 14 Sep. Does anyone have a similar timeline with me and get the passport return? I am a Sep 2014 applicant. Thanks :D

Hi Van_2014,
I got passport request on 9 Sep and HKVO received my passport on 14 Sep (though courier)
Pls keep each other updates...I am looking forward getting our passports back also

However I am currently in Canada, not HK, may be it will take me a extra few days for the passports back

HKVO received my passport on 21 sep. Let's keep update. And i would like to know how much time to wait for the PR card after landing because I will do a short landing in January then back to HK.

I courier out my passport on 21/9 as well? Would there be any update in the online system when they received our passport?

Same question here, I would like to shortly landed in CA then return to HK. Anyone has similar experience to share? Is that the PR card has to post to a CA address? Or worldwide? It takes how long for them to issue the PR card?

we got our passports back with "confirmation of permanent residence"
no visas issued as HK citizens are exempted

we are currently in canada

How do I validate a Confirmation of Permanent Residence or a permanent resident visa if I live in Canada?

hope can get a appointment with CIC office soon

Congratulations!
I want to ask you how did HKVO send back your passport ? did you send it to VFS ?

Congratulations to all members who received passport requests!
And I notice some of you decide to come back to HK shortly after completing landing process.

I have completed my medical and now waiting for passport request, and am thinking the same thing whether I should stay 1 more year in HK after becoming PR.

I have one concern that transferring large amount of money to Canada after PR will be considered as income and need to pay income tax?
I'm thinking about when I should sell my property in HK. Is there any members having the same issue?

I wondering if my case is treated as a "special case" as we are in Canada with work permits already. That's why I got the passports back earlier then other guys will similar timelines.
However, it is very strange that HKVO mail our passports to our Hong Kong address although we updated HKVO for our new address in Canada and CIC on line also shows our Canadian address as the correspondence address.
I have to ask my brother in HK to send the passports from Hong Kong to Canada through DHL. >:(

We decided to cross the Canada - US boarder for "landing" to validate our "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" next Monday.
Pray things will go well eventually.

I hear that there is a snap shot approach. The profit gain tax shall be subject to the gain compared to the date when you become PR, not the date you bought. Also, for other assets you have at the time of PR, as long as it is not a gain. There should not be tax.
Grateful to hear more advice from the forum.

Just get the COPR this morning and nothing stamp on my passport. Hongkongers can back to canada without PR card be4 16Mar. After the policy of ETA effect, we must travel with the PR card, you can check this information from CIC website..cheers :)
