I have a possible reason in mine. Due to the new “Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices” Act passed by the conservatives few months ago, which among other things "bar migrants who practice polygamy (or that are suspected may practice polygamy in the future) from entering Canada and potentially remove permanent residents already in Canada who practice polygamy.". I am not sure it will be required from everyone or not... In my case I was married twice (not in the same time of course), so that could be relevant...

As for the email, after removing what is personal and what is confidential it would come down to this, "Computerized family registration form" and bank statement within 15 days. Address provided in the email, is the address in the Nile towers.

OK guys, I will get you everything you need... am just outdoors now... for now you may check the previous convsations we all had to give you exact idea about the time line and everything else.
It was not signed by an officer but by visa section in the embassy in Cairo

I'd like to believe that I have received the update request due to discrepancy in my bank statement. Everyone else shouldn't be facing the same issue.... Thus, it is very likely that we will end up getting MR round the same time insha'Allah

My believe if it is required that we submit our application in 15 days (only 13 left) that they will be starting to issue medical requests soon insha'Allah. I mean in the up coming few weeks...

Checking if the email you received is automatic or not, at which tine did you receive it?

It is not automatic, I received it at noon of October 12th... It states that an officer requires the documents mentioned

An updated bank statement will probably be a common requirement though... But i have a question : does anyone know if they do employment checks? Should we give our places of work a heads up?

Hi Bro,

Very hard to answer this question, as each VO is different (I know Ottawa usually doesn't, where New Delhi does for example), and we don't know any case has already been processed from Cairo VO recently.
Better to give this heads up anyway.

I know of someone who has informed his employer about this couple of years ago and his promotions were frozen since then... So, you need to be cautions about that. Besides, I don't think they call to ask saying "We are Canada blah blah", I didn't hear of something of that sort.

For the possibility that Cairo VO could contact your employer, yes they might do it as it happened to me before. I have a previous application in 2010 and they sent an email in 2012 to my previous employer general manager in which he didn't see, so later they called the company and a new guy who didn't know me replied. Consequently and unfortunately, my application got a rejection.
