There is a new terminology going around by the name of "Trust Lists".
This is in relation to the Credit Card applicants and their payment authorization and/or pre-approval for CIC against their respective Card issuing Banks.
I am a CC applicant as well. I would like to copy the response received from the Customer Care dept. following a Service request raised via the online banking portal for CITIBANK:
Dear Mr. XXX, We refer to your query dated September 19, 2014. We wish to inform that we do not find any recent transaction of 550 CAD at M/s.Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada approved in your card account. However, the mentioned transaction will be approved in your card account, if the card is in active status and there is available credit limit in your card account at the time of the transaction. As on date your card has an available credit limit of Rs. xxx,xxx.00. Further, your card ending XXXX can be used for international transactions with the available credit limit in your card account. The credit limit is the same for International and domestic transactions. For any further clarification, please write to us. We will be glad to assist you. Assuring you of our best services at all times. Sincerely, ABCD, Manager - Customer Care. P.S. By no means am i trying to imply that my case is 'universal' and that it would apply to every other individual. BUT - I have never come across "Trust Lists" in the past and would appreciate if someone could point to the source (of the Banking portal, maybe) where such a terminology is clearly explained. Again, this could very well be a case with one bank and not the other, so not negating that probability.
Also, I cannot reaffirm to what the Bank has 'advised' at the moment until the transaction actually happens. Until then, I can only trust that they know what they are talking about.
I have also received the OTP Email from CITIBANK as have many other applicants. I would like to point out that CIC is not affected by this change as they never have been affected by OTP enabled CHIP Cards in the past where they have carried out successful transactions.
