Self Affidavit should be fine. It is a legal document and has sanctity. We can substantiate that with any other proof with parents name e.g: Passport.
+ For raising the debate for benefit of all!

For any other document, self affidavit is fine. But I understand for birth certificate, self affidavit is not valid. Seniors can share their views. All the best.

Cheers. I would just skip the national ID altogether.

Now my application is ready. However, posts on this forum suggest that the cap for NOC 1112 has been reached. Would you suggest applying now or wait till Jan 2015? Im worried that rules would change by then....

If you have 1% hope, i would say send the file, the next program will be very different and very difficult

My friend is a Canadian citizen and I have done this after consulting him. He lost both his parents and could not provide any other document as birth proof. His birth was not registered. He applied to a solicitor and they have advised him to file an affidavit. He did it and now he is a Citizen of Canada. But, I must admit, i dont have personal experience here.

Agree @ trk1,

for BC self wont work, one needs to have affidavit supported by parents.

+1 for giving clarity on this important one. Many will benefit by not sending self-affidavit for BC. All the best!

It should work. Don't take offence-I guess, you remove the space in between @ else it will bounce.

I tried to send from different mail services, but I didn't got this automated reply. I tried gmail and it didn't go through at all (sending was failed due to this UTF8 issue). Hotmail and work mail (POP3) the mail sent properly but no reply yet.

Any clue?

Regards,
Ahmed
