Friends and Seniors,

I have received a shock today. I checked with my bank and i was told that 3 attempts were made on my credit card 15 days ago by CIC for the amount of CAD $ 2230 but since it was not authorized (I only authorized $ 1250 processing fee for my family) there system declined.

Why $ 2230? It was because i authorized CiC to charge this amount under the impression that they need authorization of processing + permanent residence fee at the same time. Thus i authorized this amount to be deducted. However, i thought that they will only deduct $ 1250 at this stage and thus authorized my bank to approve any such transaction. I guess CiC didn't look into what is required for now and charged the mentioned amount on the form blindly. I can still get my bank to approve the full amount transaction if CiC charges again.


Please advise me if i can do absolutely anything right now or i m done for this year?

You seem to be very satisfied with India then why are you looking to migrate to Canada? You must have done some research...also why dint you apply for H1B last month?

Honda accord, Cruise is all very subjective SIR. When would I be able to throw 14 odd lacs to afford a luxury car - Guess in 7 years. And when can I afford a cruise. NEVER. Not atleast I have 5+ cr in savings to throw at something which is more luxurious then buying a car ( From utility prospective) therefore I said never


if anybody is going to canada for affording Cruise, mercedez - good luck to them. For me it is - whether can I afford my bills and give a good life to my family. Those are more important question.

And safety wise - yes I mean 9. I have been living with my family for last 30 years in mumbai, touchwood - no issues at all. Nobody tried to kill us or even attempt to. My sister and mom are safe to travel back home alone in the night. So why not 9...?

Dear Seniors: Need your help and support

I just viewed my WES report and i have been awarded with 3 years bachelor equivalency for which i will get 21 points. i recalculated my points and as per my calculation i am falling short by 1 mark.

1. Age (DOB 01/09/1978) 11 points
2. Education (Chartered accountancy - 3 years bachelor as per WES) 21 points
3. IELTS (L=7, W=7, R=6.5, S=6) 19 points
4. Work experience 15 points
5. Arranged employment in canada (No) 0 points
6. Adaptability (no relatives, only friends in canada) 0 points

in adaptability, i may apply for my spouse ielts now but by the time i will get the report (will take atleast a month), the process will probablycome to an end. is there any way that i can improve on one mark and in ilets does 6.5 and 7 band only gets 4 marks, can i claim 5 points. Further is there any possiblity to get arranged employment through consultant to claim some points.

Further even if there is no way to claim this 1 precious point, still i should consider sending the package or it will be useless? further in addition to my chartered accountancy from pakistan, i also have to qualify 1 paper of ACCA - UK. can i get some sympathy if i include this fact in my application. i cant go for this (ACCA - UK) to WES as they will again take a month to process this equivalency.

There is some ambiguity about the age calculation. My understanding is that if you did not reach your 36th birthday yet, then you are still 35. If this is correct, you already qualify. Can the seniors on the forum confirm this?

Because i got confused by reading the Step 3 on guide for immigration package which said that there are two payments. I thought that they need authorization right now but will charge it at a later stage.

Can i send them a new Fee Processing form or may be a DD?

I am sorry, but your application most likely is already on its way back. So just apply again when you get it.

I believe they send it by regular mail? If so, how much time does it take to get the package back in Pakistan? Any one knows? And say if i do receive the package in a week's time and reapply, what are the chances it will come under CAP for NOC 2173?

Got my PER thru mail today (snailmail) as I forgot to indicate my email address in IMM 0008.
My PER letter is dated June 18, 2014. I have updated my entry in the spreadsheet.
Is there a way I can tell the CIO about my email address?

I am new to this forum. You guys have some useful info. Here. I have a question. I tried to check my status as someone mentioned using UCI,My CC was charged on June 12 but when I log in using last years UCI it gives me a message as if the info entered is incorrect. Any ideas why this may be.

Sorry I am not an expert on this so will refrain from giving suggestions. However very sorry to hear this news! Hopefully something can still work out for you, best wishes!!!!!

I will use this as an example to caution others from using CC as a mode of payment, since DD is risk free if made for 6 months validity.

Well, if it is any consolation, i think my example might help some folks who are still waiting to apply.

yes they send back by ordinary mail and it reached India in 9 days (posted on 16th reached on 25th), so should be similar for Pakistan I am guessing!

All i can do now is hope against the odds. I will try to check with my local post office as well. The last attempt to charge was made on June 9th. So its almost 20 days now.

I hope you have already instructed the bank though that if they again try they let the transaction through, right? 'Caz if they haven't sent since Jun 9th may be they might try again...I am just guessing here!

I have done that. But i have heard somewhere that they try 3 times to charge and June 9th was the 3rd try.
