Hi guys, happy new month and thank God for peace in our land after the presidential elections. Regardless of who you supported, evertyhing works together for good

As promised to my chat group yesterday, I now confirm receipt of my PR visa. My darling Pipi picked up the package this morning from DHL.

Here's a rundown of my time line for those too lazy to go the 2014 Nigeria spreadsheet and check ;D

12/05/2014 - Application received at CIO
31/08/2014 - PE received
27/01/2015 - Medical/RPRF request
29/01/2015 - RPRF paid
30/01/2015 - Medicals done
09/03/2015 - Passport request
11/03/2015 - Passport sent
20/03/2015 - Visa issued
01/04/2015 - Passport collected

I prophesy that God who held my hand all through this saga will stand by you all in Jesus name. Just stand and believe and see the Lord do what only He can do in your life and situation.

l need your advice please ! I put to bed recently, and we all know AVO must be informed with necessary documentation along with POF. I gave out the fund I had in my account to a friend who needed help and she just returned the money (bulk) . The question is this; Will AVO raise eye brow if I explained this to back up the bulk amount in my statement of account ? Alternatively, can I fix the fund, so as to avoid questionings ? Kindly confirm if it will be safe to use this (Fixed Deposit). I also want to confirm if AVO will still request for source of the Fixed Deposit too.

Please Seniors here I have a question, as this issue of POF with bulk payment transfer is getting me scared. If my Company pays me my Housing allowance which is in bulk and is equivalent to about 14,000 CAD, I hope there will be no issues with it at the AVO. I need to know as I have not been shoring up my salary account which I used as the statement instead I have been transfering monies to other account. I recently sold one of my properties and the bulk money was deposited in my salary account. will this also be an issue.

Your case is not too different from mine. I suggest you invest your funds in a fixed deposit. What I did in my own case is I fixed my funds and then when AVO requested for updated POF I sent the FD certificate and statement of account. MY housing allowance was paid not long before so I explained to AVO what it represented...even though the FD was enough required funds. I attached my statement of account of the same period for the past two years to show that that allowance is usually paid at that time of the year.

One thing I'm also certain of is that AVO looks at your income and compares with your POF ... they basically want to check if you could have possibly saved that POF within a 3 to 5 year period .... if not, they'll demand to know the source of the funds. This is where you may have to show proof of property sale or something....

Fixed Deposit is a very viable choice. I advice that you fix the amount immediately. Other experienced seniors can lend their voice as well. It is well with you in Jesus name.

Book your fixed deposit without delay please! When updating AVO on your new born, you don't need to show POF ... they'll ask for it when they deem it necessary. All you need to show them at this point is the NPC birth certificate of the child and international passport (if ready at the time).

The earlier you fix your funds the better for you, so that by the time AVO asks for POF it would have been running and will not come across like it was done for the purpose of meeting immigration requirements.

Another thing is your income ... recall that your employer's reference states your remuneration so AVO may not even need to see your statement of account if you use an FD certificate. However your POF has to be commensurate with your earnings. For instance, someone who earns 100K (N1,200,000 per annum) could not have saved N2,800,000 in 3 years - he no dey chop?? There must have been other sources of income to achieve this. This is where AVO starts asking for source of funds with evidence.

So far so good with all those who have used FD though. Even someone from the 2013 forum booked her FD a day before sending to AVO when they requested and she got her visa.
