In NOC code 1112 for FSW 2013, 'Investment Advisers, Corporate' are perfectly eligible as they are Financial Analysts. To quote CIC web site

"Financial analysts are employed by a wide range of establishments throughout the private and public sector, such as banks, brokerage houses, insurance companies, investment companies, manufacturing firms, trust companies, utility companies and underwriting firms. Investment analysts are employed primarily by brokerage houses and trust companies"

If you look at the detailed list of job profiles under NOC code 1112 on HRSDC website you will find 'Investment Advisers, Corporate' as a legitimate job title. Acc to HRSDC website even this list is not complete and is only indicative. Even a few good profiles from insurance industry will also be eligible for 1112.

A lot of people on this forum are becoming insecure about their applications and are assuming things that are not correct. I just wanted to share this for the benefit of those who have applied or wish to apply in future.

I am a banker by profession and I have worked with banks in India and Canada for more than 10 years. I also have private equity experience in Indonesia.

This may or may not be true but I believe that there is a very good chance that the CAP for NOC 1112 was reached on week ending May 17, 2013. If there is any chance then the week starting May 21 (Tuesday) was the last week to get in for NOC 1112. I know I am sticking my neck out of this and I may be completely wrong on the same.

Hello guys,

I have one question - on the check list for FSW (document IMM5612), paragraph 17 - papers about the children. My two kids (<18) are applying together with my wife and me. Third point in that paragraph 17 is:
"Proof of full custody for children under the age of 18 and proof that the children may be removed from the jurisdiction of the court"

The first part of it is pretty understandable and I can get the proof of custody, but the other part is confusing me a bit - it sounds like it would apply only to people who had some things going on - like divorce, adoption etc.

What did you do with that 2nd part, proving that you can 'take the kids out of court's jurisdiction' ?

Honestly guys a lot of the applicants for 2174 are Overestimating their chances. There are many many applicants like above who do not care to participate in the forums discussions to reveal their application details.

Here are Some numbers for you to consider.
I sent my application on the same day i received WES ECA through ups the 6th. In my city there were 30 applications received out of which 14 were of NOC 2174 , how do i know this? Because I was one of the 11 people who sent it on the same day ( completed application with eca report) through ups from the same center where they had received their applications. Now this is one of the major city. Lets take on an average 5 major cities ( leave out minority ) and round it down. That is 50 applications sent from india through ups on the 6th of may were received on the 9th of may.Now i Have not considered the other courier services or the people who had sent their application on the 4th to be received on the 8th like this person above. If India had 50 applications in the NOC per day. Consider the major countries and cities all over the world. NOC 2174 people already in USA ( expiring h1b holders, usa students) and International Students in canada. who's application reached cic much much earlier. Its not hard to do the math. But underestimating the numbers by Over estimating the WES Delay's is just being a tad too optimistic. I fear my application would not reach the cap count even though it reached cic on the 9th of may at 9.51 am. Because I trust that very few applications in 2174 would have mistakes as its a noc for very educated people who spend a majority of their time online and are for most part efficient in gathering information, crosschecking and validating.

I am not trying to paint some kind of gloomy picture or a horror story. Lets be Realistic here , Don't get your hopes up too high. The best thing you can do is inquire cic about the cap count. the email i had sent has seen no response except the automated response. I am convinced if we mail cic / the minister's office we will get a positive update on this. Its our job to follow up on our application as it is the same with most things we do. We should not neglect it. Clearly Just waiting for CIC is not cutting it and has shown no positive indication on the cap count whatsoever.

I think a little modification can be useful... if you change the column title to be "According to 2011 analysis" so we can add later "According to 2013 analysis"!!

What do you think about it?!

Nice Idea. Will definitely update with this info.

I don't believe we can change much of CIC's behavior. They know why they are waiting this long, and probably they have some good reason (from their perspective at least). I suspect they do it because it simply gives them more maneuvering space - for example for deciding when to say 'enough', in case if they want to get a bit more applicants than really needed, just out of processing reasons.
Or, maybe they are thinking of getting back the limits to 500 (well, hope dies the last :)), so they want to see how will the intake work out and if it's reasonable to do so.
Most likely they won't say anything until at least first 1-2 caps were reached.

But definitely, you're right that there is not much hope left for NOC 2174 and I think that applications from India will be near or over the 50% of the cap.

Nice work!

Just check the applications by date tab, there's an error 27th May onwards in the day and date columns.
Well, when we start to enter data for future dates, it'll get fixed. Just made it in advance :)

Good one. Just need a little clarification for better understanding. What's the logic of putting "varying" dividing factor of 0.1, 0.065, 0.05, 0.04 etc. I know we need to put multiplying factor (of say 50) to represent the global applications as this forum would account only 2-3 % of global applications. Are these dividing factor figures based on last year actual figures or its just your assumption, which though seems near to actual.
These are concluded from 2011 figures. I will update column to reflect that in the heading, so less confusing for the applicants.

Good job! Another suggestion, I think u can combine these two sheet for NOC by date, eg, for 2174, how many is received by date...so that ppl can estimate which date is the date cap reached for their specific NOC.
Yes, I thought about it. I guess, I'll just make it for 1112, 2147 & 2174 for now.

Thanks for sharing - I believe you understand the industry well based on your experience :). Just to clarify my post - I think Investment Adviser, Corporate totally fits in because the job is related to Investment - the job role may perfectly fit into Investment Analyst's job desc. Regarding ppl from Insurance companies, some roles may fit in (eg. insurance companies do have their investment teams); some may not (eg. actuary, fund accountant) as long as the job duty fits in. The same principle applies to ppl working in banks, fund management companies. The job duties that matter rather than the title and type of employers.

What I meant was some people with completely non-related experience such as accountants & auditors (1111) and management consultant (1122) still try tweak their exp to apply. I don't blame them - If I were in the same situation I would do the same as well - the upside is much much higher.

Just my 2 cents.
