Hi Scout

Tanong lang po, directly ka ba nagsubmit ng TOR mo sa UBC and hindi na gumamit ng assessment agency like WES or IQAS?
I'm currently working sa Singapore as Finance Lead, pero Management graduate sa Pinas. Gusto ko sana ipursue na maging CPA and still undecided kung dito ba sa SG or sa Canada ako mag aaral.

Nag check ako sa SAIT, under Diploma in Business Admin, kailangan ng assessment from WES and if tama ung pagkakaintindi ko, hindi lahat ay credited ng CPA Canada.

I've read your post, and gusto ko din icheck UBC DAP if qualified ako to apply for the course, kaso laking gastos kung both SAIT and UBC eh mag susubmit ng assessment to WES.

But I think mas lenient ang SAIT.

Thank you!

As of now wala pa ko nasisimulan aside from registering for admission and paying cad$900 for initial registration. According to them no modules will be provided if I opted the challenge exam as compared to taking the full modules.. By the way, here's another update after I inquire if there's any limit of taking the challenge exam..

"Candidates with a challenge exam are allowed one attempt at the exam. If they do not pass on their first attempt then they must take the full module before they can take the exam again."

Oh wow!

Hello Everyone!

I will be starting my CPA Prep this coming Jan Semester through CPAWSB. I'm a bit nervous!

Heto pala background ko. I am a graduate of BS in Accountancy sa Pinas but never practiced it so in short kinakalawang na talaga Accounting ko! I am also not a CPA. Did not even try to take the exam back then since nagkawork ako kaagad :-( This time I decided to do it since I am frustrated and tired of customer service job. I work as a Hotel Guest Services Agent right now dito sa Alberta. Mostly ng experience ko is customer service.

I contacted CPA Western School of Business and they asked me to send in the requirements. (TOR directly from the school sa Pinas & the third party evaluation which I did through IQAS.

I got 4 exemptions for the CPA Preparatory Program: Intro to Financial Accounting, Intro to Management Accounting, Economics and Statistics. Yung iba hindi na nacredit as per CPA Harmonized Education Policies kc sobrang tagal na nun as in 2012 pa ko graduate (More than 10 yrs old). :'(

I paid for the 2 assessments- IQAS and CPA assessment, Admission Fee, and the course for Business Law to start. I am planning to take Corporate Finance din pero hindi pa ko nagbabayad. Hehe. Ang gastos!

I am doing this on my own and working a full time job at the same time so it is going to be hard for sure.

Just wanted to reach out with other fellow Filipinos doing the CPA PREP. Also, I am not sure if kaya ko maging CPA so i am thinking to do the ACAF instead. Thoughts?

Paano po ung process nung assessment niyo? Nagpaassess muna kayo sa IQAS then sila na ang nagsend sa CPA WSB? Kasi ang requirement kailangan directly sent from the school, ang question ko is paano maaassess ng IQAS kung isesend directly to CPA WSB from the school? Gusto ko din kasi magenrol sa CPA WSB. Salamat

Hi vbman24,

Dalawa requirements nila for TOR.

Yung una galing sa school mo sa Pinas (school sending it directly to the Edmonton Office). I emailed my school and gave them the instructions and my sister na nasa Pinas went there to pay for the copy of the Transcript.

Yung pangalawa, assessment ng IQAS. I sent the old copy of my TOR and Diploma (Red Ribbon-Ito pa yung lumang copy ko na ginamit when I applied for a Visa here in Canada) to IQAS for assessment. IQAS will then send you your own copy of their assessment along with your TOR, and a separate one directly to CPA WSB in Edmonton.

When do you plan on doing it? I'll send you a private message.

Hi! I am a CPA here in the Philippines and planning to enter Canada next year pero nkawork permit visa aku in a different field and I also plan to pursue my accounting career but I've read from the previous thread na bawal mag-aral while on a work permit visa would online study be ok? Or can I ask anyone for help of what to do.

Thank you.

Try to look for an employer that will pay for your cpa courses.

Just take it slow kapatid. Finish your CPA Prep and consider doing the CPA PEP. Its totally worth it.

I finished my whole CPA Program just recently and I can say, iba talaga ang opportunity kung designated accountant ka ditto. Mahal langa talaga cya, approx. ~CAD$11K sa CPA PEP. But look for employer who will sponsor your education. My current work paid for my tuition and school fees but I have to stay with them through a binding contract. Good luck!!
