Hi all! Need some assistance please. I have a friend she is working as a manager in one of the fast food chain here. The company looks like they dont have any plans to extend her closed work permit. But we know someone who wanted to sponsor her, but as a Caregiver for her disabled son. Is it possible for my friend to grab that opportunity? I mean, even without any experience will it be okay when she apply for work permit as care giver? Please help! Thanks.

When does permit expire? If she is on a closed work permit then she cannot work for this other employer. Is employer in Quebec? If not there are no pathways/work permit until the Home Care program reopens next year. She would have to be eligible and it is based on quotas so the program opens and closes the same day.

Tell employer it will be years before your friend will have PR to work.

Her work permit will expires on June. But we know someone who needs a caregiver and willing to sponsor her. Is that possible? We are in Ontario. Not in quebex.

This employer cannot "sponsor" her and the only way is through the link I provided, and it is quota based. So she would have to wait and apply next year. She needs either 6 months experience as a caregiver or have relevant education as PSW, ECE etc. If she doesn't then not eligible.

Tell the employer to set up a business CRA account to set up payroll. Make sure employer can afford a full time caregiver. But if the person on a closed work permit has no caregiving experience nor training, then tell employer to find someone else. Tell them to post the job

The employer has a business and can afford a fulltime caregiver. So if she doesnt have any caregiving experience it is impossible for her to get a closed work permit, right?

Read this link. The employer has to start the LMIA process so has to post the job for at least a month and prove no has your friend's work experience, education and language skills to do the job. The employer proves that she couldn't hire anyone with any education, work experience etc.

The whole point of a LMIA is proving that no Canadian/PR can do the job.

Even if she has, the quota for this year is already filled. And I think it was filled within days if not hours.

She cannot work here after her close work permit expires.

Not possible. She needs to have related work experience and the quota is already full for this year with no spots remaining. As others have said, earliest she will be able to apply is sometime next year.

It’s impossible

There would be a lot of applicants already capable of doing the job already in Canada WITH EXPERIENCE that aren’t required to be sponsored

She was on a closed work permit with an end date . She should of been prepared she would have to leave

It’s not that she’s been laid off or terminated . Her contract is coming to an end per the agreement
