My wife (CDN citizen / sponsor) and I (US citizen) live in the states, so I am wondering if our application landed on a "special" desk because she also has to prove her intent to move back to Canada.

Congrats :) You're February 9, 2015 applicant? I'm February 4th, 2015 applicant. :D
good luck to all of us

Considering that a Feb. 9th applicant just got AOR, I wouldn't panic quite yet if you haven't heard. Until you're behind the website date (currently Feb 4th), there's no reason to call.

I was able to get my file number due to my wife having a UCI previously, but I am Feb 17th and I have not officially gotten a AOR. That said, my wife's ECAS says application was received (I don't have ECAS yet).

If you're the principal applicant, CIC will not send you an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR). The AOR is only sent to the the Sponsor, the person who is sponsorship you.

Using your application number, you can only see your Permanent Residence status and medical info.

Hope this helps! :)

Raine

Hello everyone! I couldn't be more happy right now!
(Wifey of Dango writing! ;D )

Our application was recieved on Feb 16, Recieved our AOR on April 9.... aaaand.... Today we got sponsor approval! ;D
We are also being kept in Missisauga!

I wish that everyone else who is still waiting will hear positive news from CIC soon!

I am the sponsor, my Wife is the PA. This may also mean that I already have SA as my wife's ECAS is showing as received.

It is really hard to say because I don't have access to my ECAS to determine where the sponsorship is.

Yaeeeeee...... so happy for you two. Congratz........
We are Feb 20th applicant. Hope to get our SA soon :)

Received SA today! They've retained our application in Mississauga as well (rather than sending outland to Sydney, Australia)!

Application sent Feb 6th. 2015. AOR April 8th, 2015. SA April 16th, 2015.

Congrats to everyone getting SA!

I'm quite frustrated, ECAS shows a decision was made and they mailed me a letter with the decision on April 10. 6 days later and I still have nothing and I LIVE IN MISSISSAUGA omg! Any idea what the heck is taking so long? I swear I've mailed things to my friends back in the States that arrived faster than this damn letter!

When did you send your app?

AOR means Mississauga has received your application. Up until October last year it was rare for applicants to receive an AOR but that was because the processing time was around 40 days. From October onwards the processing time went up to 96 days at one point, so to save them being hounded for an update they sent out AOR's to let applicants know their applications had been received.

Generally you should receive sponsor approval within 2 weeks of receiving AOR.

Thanks Andrew for your explaination

So now I am reading that the wait time is improving till we get an AOR
