Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA for like, a month -.- stressful times hey!

We're expecting our Case notes to be coming in any day now to get more information on this mess that's going on with our application being forwarded to LA (AKA the fiery slow pits of hell)

We have looked into immigration into the U.S.A and it looks like our time will be cut in half by getting into the states. Also giving us the much needed break from some family members up here that would love to see us split.

We are thinking we might be going ahead and starting the process to get into the states, and then after living there and seeing how things go, potentially try again to get into Canada once we have a lot more proof that we aren't doing this for convenience.
I'll make sure to share whatever we see on our case notes.

Congrats to everyone that has seen progress with their applications! My heart is truly happy for all of you, but broken at the same time because I honestly thought this would be an easy breezy process for my husband and I.

please let us know what you find out from the notes. it makes me nervous if some files get "randomly" sent to LA. Were you able to find out if your in-laws had something to do with it? wishing you the best of luck always! perhaps this is the universe telling you to get away from the crazy!!!

I would probably never be able to find out if it was indeed my MIL. She get's so bipolar and loves me to death one second then would try and punch me in the face the next.
I think it really is a sign! Things continue to just point us in the other direction and so we're strongly considering moving. Just waiting on case notes so we can make the "final" decision and consult my parents and break the news to family up here.

Thanks! Will let ya'll know as soon as I do!

Did you ever get a response to the email from CPC-Ottawa?

PPR stands for Passport Request. It can be requested by everyone but if you're from a visa exempt country they will either ask for a scanned copy, or nothing at all.

No letter yet!

We're actually getting worried: what if our application was just SO BAD that they rejected it right away?

That doesn't happen, right? If there is a problem they contact you to ask you for an interview, or for more documents, before rejecting your application?

BTW in response to others, my last name is not Romance in Paris :p It's just for confidentiality.

Steler, keep your chin up! I remember seeing a case of a couple who had been married for twelve years - their application took about a month and a half to approve in Paris. Meanwhile my boyfriend and I have been living together for a little under two years, of which half of it is difficult to prove since we didn't change the lease right away when he moved into my apartment. (In fact it was a "gradual" moving in, where you just one day realize that the other person sleeps over every night, and eats dinner and breakfast with you, and all their stuff is at your place and you wonder when THAT happened.) So anyway it just shows you can never tell. I'm sure the results you're hoping for will come soon. Good luck to all others still waiting!
I really appreciate your words ;)
My story is very similar to yours. In this point who knows why one takes a few days a another takes several weeks, it could be anything.
I have always understood that if your application is not strong enough they give you the chance to improve it, so 99,99% that everything is all right. Depending where you are the letter will take more or less. I saw cases that from Paris to Canada took 11 days for the letter to arrive.
Congratulations again and keep us update

Thanks Steler! The two of us are actually living in Paris at the moment, and Paris->Paris mail typically takes one or two days. Luckily the French post is very reliable. So hopefully today is the day! We won't know until we get back from work and can check the mail. I was hoping it would be an email though, seems strange to switch to mail at this stage when all along we've been receiving emails.

I have not heard back directly from Ottawa

We received our case notes today though, I'm not exactly sure about how to "read" these, but the only thing that is concerning that I really don't understand is in the "Notes" section it says

"CPC-O has been designated as the primary VO. On the file jacket CPC-O/Los Angeles appears. I am proceeding with "met" decision for sponsorship eligibility"

The Paper File history jumps back and forth between Mississauga and Los Angeles, seems that we had 3 different case officers working on it thus far.

Does say the primary office is Los Angeles and the Secondary office is in Mississauga.

Any insight?
Obviously we know for sure it's in LA but I'm still not understanding "why?"

Are there any other notes on there at all, other than the part about the 'met' decision?

It says it has advised us that we need an upfront medical examination
It says in the notes that an immigration office has been requested
Says my intended occupation is mortician
Just goes over my personal information like birthdate, birthplace and full name
and then just says Sponsors Status in Canada and Sponsors Residency declaration

In the Paper File Transfer History it seems like our paperwork was being sent back and forth between Mississauga and Los Angeles all within April 22nd to the 31st. . .. seems like it went back and forth a few times. \

What does "Met" decision mean??

That's interesting, mine doesn't have anything under occupation for the applicant!
I believe 'met' means they're continuing the application based on the fact that the sponsorship was approved, or, met. That's my take on it but I might be wrong.

Wish the notes were easier to read/understand.

I'm also unsure of what they mean by the file jacket saying Los Angeles. . . don't even know what a file jacket is -.-

maybe it's worth keeping the application in play and just keep ordering notes monthly? perhaps there will be more insight later down the road. have you received SA yet? I can't remember... I would also suggest contacting your MP, perhaps they can help you get better answers.
