3) I was told that once i've landed, that you cannot travel outside outside of Canada until you get your PR card (surely this was an old wives tale?)
I have several family and work trips scheduled now that i will be receiving my PR but waiting for the PR card could take 8 weeks which actually means I cannot travel on the family/work trips

Can someone help clarify?

Can't answer for #1 and #2...#2 varies from person to person even within same VO...but on #3 you receive the paperwork, the confirmation of permanent residency, (CoPR) is used until you receive your PR card. I always kept my CoPR with me when crossing the border along with my passport. There was never any issue leaving and returning.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey everyone,

We received our visa todaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

I cannot believe it!!!!!!! I am in shock!!!! I expected it to take until August... and they didn't even ask for an interview! This is a blessing!

I hope it all goes the same for everyone who is waiting!

Hey guys!
Haven't been in this forum for quite some time now. I am surprised and speechless at the same time about applicants who still haven't received any progress on their applications!. This is just sad. I thought as soon as CEM starts to go back to work, everything will go speedly and smoothly. I have been visiting the spreadsheet now and then and noticed that there are still January and February Applicants that are still waiting for their PPR's. Wishing all of you guys to get your PPR's next week. I have experience the so called "Waiting Game" for PPR's and the agony is just overwhelming. Wishing you guys all the Luck in the world!. :)

anyone here also waiting for visa? applicants from feb 2013?

Dear Feb 2013 applicants,
Am glad to tell you that my cic application status finally shows DECISION MADE :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D
I really appreciate all of you for your support, advise and guidance.

Wondering how long it will take for Nairobi to return my passport with visa and COPR. I already paid a pre-paid DHL coupon for the return.
feeling to relieved of all the waiting challenges. Praying for all my colleagues still waiting for news. All the best!!!!!

Thanks Messenger for the good wishes. Finally am almost done with this waiting process, now waiting for the return of my passport/visa/copr soon. I continue to pray for you and everyone else still waiting to receive good news too.
Thanks once again, all the best.

You are next Tom :) Congrats Rose 8)

Hi All,

I received my COPR on the 23rd of April, made a quick dash from Toronto to buffalo on the 25th April (if there is ever a quick drive on the QEW) to get the passport stamped. I didn't know they automatically apply for the PR card and was very disappointed that i still cannot leave Canada by air and only to the US by car. I have to travel for work and family reasons to the UK and US and its a logistical nightmare

Does anyone know how long the PR card process takes? someone said 2 weeks but i think that's wishful thinking.

Good luck to everyone.

@Zardoz
Dear Zardoz its being a long time since we last talked. (Remember last time we did was when we discussed the originin of your user name( ZARDOZ movie Sean Connery, Charlotte Rambling hehehehe)
Yep finally I am in the ranks of those who can sleep easy at nights :) Where are you in Canada friend? I shall be going to Calgary. From the time we met lst year I also had a baby daughter.

Wishing you and your spouse the best!

@Ann I am planning to do the same after I Land. I will stay away from the forum to catch up on our new lives in Calgary.. I will be in Toronto for a week and I will leave the baby and wife at Niagara Falls at our friend's house and then i will move on to Calgary to find apartment and a job. When this is done I will take the family to Alberta

All the best to you

Congs Tom & Family, so happy for you that soon you will get done with this nagging waiting process. At least you can now get some good sleep with no worries and plan better for the future of your family in canada.
I too landed peacefully in Calgary, the immigration staff were so welcomingwelcoming
& the whole process took me less than 30minutes. I later had to take a connection flight to Edmonton where I found my lovely hmubby waiting for me. It was a memorable moment to be reunited. I got my SIN today & have registered for Alberta health scheme as well. Soon to start looking for a job, may be next week.
