Channelier does not work for cic. You have to request from FBI itself.
How does that square with what's on the website right now? The page on "How to Get a Police Certificate – United States" says:
"For U.S. citizens and permanent residents only: you may apply to an FBI-approved channeler (a third party that helps deliver your information to the FBI). They will collect your application form, fingerprints, any fee(s), and give them to the FBI. Once the FBI completes their background check, they will send the results to the channeler. The channeler will then give you your record check letter. Please include the FBI letter with your application, and send us the complete package."
And further down the page it specifies that they'll only take the electronic copy anyways, so a fancy seal presumably doesn't mean much.
"Yes. If you are Invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate. NOTE: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications."
I was reading another forum thread earlier that quoted this same page as denying that channeler reports would be accepted. However, when I clicked through, the page clearly says the opposite now.
It would appear maybe they changed their policy. Anyone know for certain? My wife and I are waiting on our reports, but I know her fingerprint plates didn't look stellar, so I'm wondering if I should wait for the long-delayed review or go straight to a channeler now.
