There was one person awhile back who got a test invite the next week and oath invitation soon thereafter. The poster was very certain that they got their test so quickly because of how great their RQ response was, but I suspect that that was a CIC error or they were part of a CIC pilot project to test new procedures or train new staff.

Individual results and timelines vary greatly.

Hi,

I guess i could say my RQ was proccessed a bit faster as I got a test date in 5 months (its next week). But its possible they may still be working on my RQ while allowing me a test, not sure.

Appl Recd. - Oct 2013
Started processing - Dec 2013
Got and sent RQ - Jan/Feb 2014
Citz test invite - July 2014

Hope it helps!

i am really grateful for the responses.

I cannot understand to qualify for citizenship one needs 1084 days and if you have enough days as buffer why people still get RQ. As the process is simple the person who gets RQ has all the proof and he send that back to CIC which cost the person lot of money and time spend. The end result is the person goes for test. Why CIC is taking so much burden. if they have to screen people why they don't screen actual cases by at least having looked at their CBSA entry or health card entries.. There must be 1000 ways to know if the person is in Canada or not.

yes i agree they can find out with CBSA instead of delaying. I think that was the reason for my RQ as i stayed in usa for over a year, but was well above their requirement of 1095. they dont really stamp passports with entry/exit and it causes us a headache. RQ was painful and its not easy to get documents that are years old. anyways i hope they are done with it and dont bother me much in the intw. lol

AcerAcer ,

yes I am also stuck at st clair. one question can you brief your situation and timeline. when and why you got RQ any idea. after sending how you know the RQ has been delivered and is on officers table. did you get any ecase update or acknowledgement of processing or did you call cic agent and got any feedback. what did the cic agent said to you

I like to hear from someone who submitted RQ and got test and interview. I like to know how an RQ person is treated at interview. Is he still drilled and tension is not over yet?

Hi blueshirt,

Here is an update on this . I passed my test today at Mississauga. The interview was quick and easy. they were offering oath letters to most for a next week oath. But my fear came true. Because of the RQ the file will now be sent to st.clair office for processing and they have absolutely no ETA to offer .. Wait and wait for the oath letter.

mehtapr thanks for updating us. can you share reason for your RQ. did you not submit a real good RQ response. why they have doubts now.

I believe I got RQ as I stayed out of country for over a year, I doubt there is any other reason. I submitted a good response but the thing is they have not reviewed it yet . My local office is Mississauga but seems they have to send RQ cases to st Clair. Once st Clair office approves my oath will be in Missisauga .

ok I see, mehtapr during your 4 years period how many entry exit you had. did you enter Canada multiple time within 4 years.

let say if someone is assess for 4 years e.g. Jan 2010 to Jan 2014. The person left Canada in 2009 but came back on March 2010 and never left and his filling 4 years duration is from Jan 2010 to Jan 2014. How easy it will be for CIC to evaluate this case. was your case similar to this or more complicated with many short trips

Blueshirt, your questions suggest that people can know for certain why they got RQ or why their application is delayed. In fact it's really hard to know even the most general reason unless there is specific notation in an ATIP file, so people's guesses are only guesses.

Also, just because someone experiences slow processing doesn't mean that they did something wrong or made a mistake. Sometimes it means that the CIC is understaffed. Let's not read significance into every detail or delay unless we have some evidence to support it.

Finally, there's nothing wrong with entering Canada multiple times. Would this slow things down? Maybe, maybe not. No one here knows. We could guess. And freak ourselves unnecessarily and make ourselves feel like PRs aren't allowed to travel. But PRs are allowed to travel and there's nothing wrong with traveling as long as one meets the residency requirement. We shouldn't suggest that it causes delays or problems when we have no evidence of such.

It's the CIC's responsibility to process our applications in a reasonable, timely and fair manner. It is not our responsibility to contort our lives into a fantasy of the "perfect immigrant" who will be rewarded with speedy citizenship. There is no such thing as a perfect person, immigrant or not. We need to be honest and do our best. Let's not convince ourselves that we did something wrong because we went outlet shopping in Buffalo a couple times.
