they are talking about reducing the time for ALL applications, specifically the inland stream, to 12 months. More than likely this isn't specific to visa offices outside of canada, since for the most part a majority of visa offices process applications in 12 months or less, despite what is posted online. the fact your processing time changed online last week really doesn't mean much. as most of us know, the outland processing times listed on the website are not averages, and a majority of applications are processed in much less time. if you want to know how long it REALLY takes to process an application at your visa office, then find the thread specific to that office and ask there. more than likely you will see the "real" average is 10-12 months. A lot of visa offices process in less time than that - more like 6-8. I really recommend to stop going by what is posted online. it is not accurate and it is not being interpreted correctly, if you are interpreting it as an average.
they also updated the guide and will no longer have 2 streams. it will all be streamlined in 1 sponsorship category now.
we can't expect the processing times online to change drastically today or even this month, since this is a NEW initiative. the processing times posted represent applications processed in the past, not applications that are sitting in queue waiting for processing.
