I just saw your response. I didn't know that about filing too early. i was going to apply the first week in September. May I ask why that is so?
It's not likely with the current processing times but CIC has been known to refuse those who apply too early on the basis that their current status is still valid for awhile.

Oh I see. Maybe I'll wait until the middle of September instead. Then it would be 6 weeks before my expiry date. That seem too early?

No it wasn't a very formal letter. Here is on the lines of what he wrote: Dear sir/madam I ***** am willing to help ***** financially while he is in canada. He then stated he was willing to send up to $10,000 to him anytime he needs it. He then gave his number just in case they needed to contact him to make sure he was being truthful. So basically, just get him to say he is willing to support you and your husband while you are both going through the spousal sponsorship. Because you are residing with him he probably doesn't have to state how much money he is willing to fork over, just stating he is going to support you both financially while you are staying with them is perfect. If he wants to add a phone number just in case then that will work as well. Then just sign the bottom. It doesn't have to be a massive letter, just the basics of him stating he will support you both is all you will need.

How does this sound..... I **** *** am writing to confirm that my son *** *** and his wife *** *** who is applying to extend her stay in Canada, are living with me in my home at ******* . I am also willing to offer financial support, if needed, while they are going through the Spousal Sponsorship process. If any questions or concerns please contact me at ******

Thanks

Sponsored Spouse questionnaire

I hope somebody can help me with a question about the sponsor application. ( I can't for the life of me figure out how to start a new post) anyway,

I'm working on the Sponsored Spouse questionnaire for the outland sponsor application. does anybody have any good advice on filling this out?

My husband and I kinda have a "long story" relationship with a lot of twists and turns in it, and every time I try to answer a question I feel like I have to explain so much before I can even answer the original question. I know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense so if anybody has any questions, feel free. But I don't know where to start to answer the questions.

here is an example: Was your relationship known to your close friends and family: yes

Did your sponsor meet any of your close friends or family? No because my parents were 100% against the relationship due to religious reasons and did not ever meet him.

Should I try to explain each question in depth or should I write like a cover letter for that part of the application and explain our entire relationship. because A LOT happened that kept us apart for so long.

Thanks to anybody who is reading this, I appreciate your time.

Just include a separate sheet of paper (or more) detailing the relationship. For questions that you feel you need to answer in detail, simply write: "Yes (or No). Please see addendum A for detailed information." Then, be sure to write `Addendum A' at the top of the page, along with the form(s) and question(s) that this is to be used with. Also, write your full name, date of birth, your husbands name and UCI number, so that if it becomes separated from the form, CIC will know what it is and who it belongs to.

Many couples also choose to [each] write a letter detailing how their relationship began and unfolded, which is then added to their `Proof of relationship' section that they assemble with their application.

I sent off my extension application in the mail a couple days ago and it was succcessfully delivered today OCTOBER 9th. My expiry date is NOVEMBER 14th. Am I still ok on my implied status? Meaning I can stay until I hear back from CIC? Does anybody know what happens if I pass my expiry date and then I hear back and my extension isn't granted. Appreciate the answers...

Don't worry. I just looked on the CIC website, I'm assuming you applied online, which current processing times are 146 days and it says they're working on applications received on May 8th. Only when it's been past the processing times is when you should worry.

My wife was to to return to India on 26th August and we changed her return tkt to 26 Feb 2016 hoping the approval and perhaps PR in the mean time. New Delhi spousal PR time is 16 months.

Well first I will ask, are you applying online or sending it through mail? I did all of mine online. But yes if you plan on asking for any more than 6 months, they will require you to have proof of a medical exam by a CIC physician. It's advised to do it up front, but what you can do is wait for them to request the medical from you, then you can submit it that way. Another option, since you are doing your sponsorship package, since that requires you to do a medical you can apply for a 6 month extension. When that one is close to being expired you should have an extra copy of your receipt for your medical, you can then include that with your next extension request and ask for a longer time than 6 months.
Also, just so you are aware because I was confused at this as well, since they are quite behind on doing extension applications, chances are your visitor pass will expire before they issue you a new one. Don't panic by this, because you have submitted a request for an extension you will be considered "implied status" which means even though your legal visitor pass has expired, you are legally allowed to stay in canada until a decision has been made. My husbands visitor pass expired back in June! We applied in May, and yesterday is when I got his new visitor pass in the mail.

Yes I think what you have is perfectly fine. Bank statements could also come in handy as well just for further proof. The fact that he stated he is willing to support you, chances are they wont deny you. For me ( the one supporting ) I had everything you mentioned. Pay stubs, and a letter from my employers showing I have a stable steady income. For my husband, just for extra proof we had his bank statements and his visa. So if you really want to secure your posibilities, you could include your side of income as well, even if you don't have a steady income that's no problem.

Feel free to ask any other questions :)

Hi, I just sent off my extension application a couple days ago and it was recieved OCTOBER 9th. My expiry date is NOVEMBER 14th. So it was recieved 5 days before my expiry. Am I still able to have implied status? Wasn't sure since it was cut so close. Thanks for your time.

Your application should reach minimum 30 days prior to expiry of 6 months from the date of entry into Canada, so you are good.

best wishes

If you pass the expiry date, you have Implied Status. If the extension isn't granted, you will be told to leave Canada.
