If you pass the expiry date, you have Implied Status. If the extension isn't granted, you will be told to leave Canada.

Do they give you time to leave Canada or do you have to leave that day?

I have another Sponsor question if somebody is willing to help. My husband and I are both adopted from Romania. My husband who is sponsoring me to Canada is a Canadian Citizen, however, on the application under "status in Canada" I'm not sure whether to pick Naturalized Canadian Citizen or Citizen by decent since his parents who adopted him were already Canadian Citizens. Thanks to who ever answers.

We have completed 90 days today since we applied for extension online. Approval is still pending. Processing time was 100 days when we applied on 23 July 2015 which has now gone up to 153 days (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp). CIC is really getting slow.

Hi there!
Has anybody here extended their staying in Canada for more than 6 months?
On April, 2015 Canadian Embassy sent me the letter with my visitor visa extension till May,2016(they allowed to stay here the whole year...I was pleasantly surprised ;)))
But in June,2015 I had to leave Canada for two weeks and then in July,2015 I came back to my husband. We applied for family sponsorship (Outland) in August,2015.
Now I'm interested is this letter of extension still valid till May, 2016 or I should again apply in December when my 6 months staying will expire?
I'll be very appreciated for your answers

If anybody could answer some questions on the Outland Sponsor application I would appreciate it.

First of all on the Sponsored Spouse / Partner Questionnaire Question number 27. Have you and your sponsor lived together? I'm not 100% sure how to answer this. I'm currently living in Canada with my spouse while we are filing our application and waiting on an extended stay application, BUT before this I have never previously lived with him. Should I answer Yes or No?

Question 29. Are you currently living with someone other than your sponsor?
I live with my sponsor/ husband in this parents home. So should I fill out their names? or is it asking who I'm living with if I'm NOT living with my sponsor at all?

30. Do you receive financial support from your sponsor if so, how much and how often?

Since I'm in Canada with him and can't work, I am receiving financial support from him. However, It's not a set amount of money nor does he give me money certain times. We have both of our names on his bank account and when he gets paid we spend our money together. How should I answer this.

Thank you so much to anyone who replies.

27) Technically, you guys are currently living together. You can answer yes, and include an attachment with a further description of the situation. Or, you can include the description of your guys' situation in a cover letter for your package.

29) There is no harm in answering YES and putting the names/info down of your in-laws. This situation would show that his family knows of your relationship and supports your marriage… Which is a good thing! Again, you can include an attachment with an explanation of the situation. Or include a full explanation of your story in a cover letter.

30) We answered "YES" to financial support and explained that there was no set amount but that we shared our bank accounts. Included with our application was a letter from me (the sponsor) that I was financially supporting my husband (the applicant) in full (food, clothing, medical, travel expenses, and all other necessities until he can work).

Hope this helps.

Annabo, did you ever get a reply to this? I'm curious for an answer to your question too.

My wife has recently got her visitor extension. We asked for 12 months but got 8 months.

Cheers..

Hi I'm hoping someone can help me.

I came to Canada on may 14th from the US which is visa exempt. I came here to get married and planned on applying for Sponsorship (through husband) about a month and half before my expiry date (Nov 14) I sent in an extension application explaining we were going to apply for sponsorship. I haven't heard back from cic yet and have been in canada on implied status. We havent sent in our sponsor application yet, and due to personal reasons we decided that we aren't going to and I'm going to go back to the US and apply to sponsor him. I have a complete copy of everything I sent with the extension application. Will I have trouble at the border since I'm going back to the US before I hear back about my extension?

Canada doesn't care when you leave and as an American, the US won't care when you enter, so what exactly are you worried about?

Just worried that my reason for applying for an extension was to be sponsored, but didn't know if I would get any trouble since I changed my mind. Didn't know if they would view that as fishy or not.

Plus my husband is driving me back to the states so I didn't know if that would make any difference

I repeat, Canada doesn't care when you are leaving.

Are you from the US? The reason I ask is because I am not familiar with Visa's, because the US is a Visa exempt country. With that being said, I do know that if you have a status of "visitor" and you leave Canada then your status ends at that time. When you come back if the border officer does not stamp a date you have to leave by, then you can stay for 6 months and after that you need to apply for a Visitor extension.
Now I don't know if this also applies to a Visa as well as I am not sure if they work the same as a "visitor record".
I hope someone else can answer this for you if you are not from a visa exempt country.
