Updated. Well, moves differently for different people. Only one applicant (chunka-tuna) has reported BG going to IP for a second time. All the others (apparently) received PPR after BG went to IP for the first time.
Thanks Raj. Happy to see any positive movement on the app.

Question : My Indian passport has exactly one year validity remaining as of today. I can now start the process for renewal here in the US if i wish. Given that there is a chance per other cases that i could get the PPR email soon, should i even bother sending it for renewal now ? I have no idea how long it takes and it seems a bit risky/unecessary given the timing.

If i do not renew it and stick with my current passport, i believe it has to be valid for at least 6 months at time of short landing, which is what I'm planning to do. (Kindly correct me if wrong). Im trying to figure out how i should time everything to sync up in the easiest way possible.

What's your advise in this case to avoid any PP validity issues down the road, but also not complicating my PR application current status/processing ?

Additional details if needed: I'm in the USA was hoping to do the short landing thing anytime this spring/summer, if i got approved. Also my meds expire in October end 2017.

Well, I am not sure if the PP validity of at least 6 months is required if you land from the US. However, if possible, I suppose you can get your PP renewed to avoid confusion in the future. If you get PPR in the meanwhile, you can submit a CSE and inform them that you are currently renewing your PP and you will submit the new PP once it is issued. You can show proof of application for renewal of PP too.

This is only my opinion.

Nice!

Nothing from your side unless any additional documents are asked. If you feel so, you can order notes after 90 days post AOR to see where your application stands.

Good luck!

Received update, Med passed on Jan 13 and now they are asking RCMP certificate for my spouse. I am CEC inland. BG is IP. does this mean R10 and R11.2 are done?

Yes CEC requires your PP to be valid for at least 6 months. My wife's PP was expiring in May 2017 and I got a mail asking for the renewed PP which is valid for at least 6 months. Since they gave me just 7 days to provide the PP I had to get it renewed urgently (tatkal application).

Since your PP Is valid fro one more year so I guess you should be fine. to get it renewed later. I am saying to wait so that in case you are asked for your PP then you wont have to ask for extension since the renewal process takes 1.5 to 2 months (at least here in Canada). Worst case if you are not able to land before the expiry of PP then you can always go for the tatkal application, it just costs more but you get it fast (my wife got it in 1 hour at the Indian consulate).

Guys, has anyone of you ordered the GCMS notes? I don't think the 3 months rule actually true all the time, as depends on each application, we will have different timeline. I think we can order the notes one or two weeks after the Background checks changed to In Progress. Plus, it's free so why not? I just ordered mine 30 mins ago.

I think it is 5$ if a Canadian Citizen orders and more if anyone from outside does (not sure how much), if my understanding is wrong than please post the link on the forum as well, everyone would like to take benefit by getting free GCMS notes ;)

I just ordered GCMS notes after about 2 months. It is $5 for people living in Canada.

Is it $5? I chose the Privacy Act, and it didn't ask for any payment.
